Anyone tried Modi Apples?
May 8th, 2018 at 7:37pm

Coles had them at 49 cents a kilo.

I bought and tried some,,,, they are magnificent.
A bit like an old fashioned Jonathon but with much less acid.
They are also maintaining a great crunchyness.

I suspect Coles have a monopoly on their distribution, not seen them anywhere else.

I just hope they maintain the quality as they have the rights to it.

The other apples in the shops at the moment are pretty ordinary, over stored and floury.
I suspect old season and new season apples have been shandied up,,, most dishonest.

The Royal gala here have been terrible quality, bags of flour.
If you like gala , you will probably like Modi,, as I said is has much less acid. Jonathan could be nasty, if you have Italian growers and they pick it way to early.

AH the Gala have been really nice here, but from Harris Farm. Never buy from ColesWorth but I'll make a special trip just to try Smiley

"Coles had them at 49 cents a kilo."

49 cents?

I haven't seen apples that price for years decades.

Currently $6 per kilo.

I havent seen anything for 49c a kilo in Coles or anywhere else....... I thought they may have come from NZ    do we have any from there in the shops ...does anyone know?.... NZ apples leave ours for dead....

I had Jass or jazz apples last week  nice and crunchy...would be nice if they told us where the fruit comes from....

49 cents was a promotional price.

Sunday they were 1.49, still a bargain for the best apple in store.

They are grown in the Goulburn Valley, apparently.

Developed in Italy.

I had my first Modi apple the other day.  Tasted much like a Delicious but much much crisper and more juicy.

Thumbs up!!    I do prefer apples to be slightly tarter though.

I like them a little hard and under-ripe. I'll go for a pear before an apple!
