I'm happy for the Fins, but making comparisons with Australia, USA, or the main EU countries is tenuous. Finland is relatively remote from trouble, and they only have a population of 5.5 million. Societies that are smaller and remoter tend to have less social pressures.

New Zealand has a lower population and its free from social pressures ? also Australia has a very small population as well so should be compared to Finland.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_model

The Nordic model (also called Nordic capitalism[1] or Nordic social democracy)[2][3] refers to the economic and social policies common to the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Sweden). This includes a combination of free market capitalism with a comprehensive welfare state and collective bargaining at the national level with a high percentage of workers belonging to a labour union;[4] and state provision of free education and free healthcare as well as generous, guaranteed pension payments for retirees funded by taxation.[5][6] The Nordic model began to earn attention after World War II.[7][8]

Although there are significant differences among the Nordic countries, they all share some common traits. These include support for a "universalist" welfare state aimed specifically at enhancing individual autonomy and promoting social mobility; a corporatist system involving a tripartite arrangement where representatives of labor and employers negotiate wages and labor market policy mediated by the government;[9] and a commitment to widespread private ownership, free markets and free trade.[10]

and very very high taxes !! Norway's super profits taxes means they profit from their wealth in the ground instead of giving it all away to foreign pirates in exchange for some temporary jobs !

Yeah but... That is socialism, socialism is not communism unless you are a wingnut.

I remember in the '70s we were kinda going the Nordic Model, then came the '80s and "greed is good' US Gordon Gekko view of the economy started taking hold. From what I've seen that's only seen greater divides in society, more unhappiness, less social cohesiveness and empathy setting Australians against Australians in their desire to grab more toys than others.

Maybe, but we stuck it to them dole bludgers, didn't we?

If you want to look for contradictions, go for it, but note the highlights.
