You v Your Will
Apr 23rd, 2018 at 12:55pm

Stupid arsehole bloke.  It does not work folks!

Link.

Quote:
Wynford Hodge, who owned Parsonage Farm and Caravan Park near Amroth in Wales, died after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer in 2017, leaving behind more than $2,700,000 in funds and assets.

But despite spending four decades together and becoming Mr Hodge’s main carer when his health deteriorated, Jane Thompson, 79, was left with nothing.

The 92-year-old made it clear that he did not want her or her children to inherit any of his money.

You can’t cut a child out of your will either.

Yeah my dad pulled that crap. We knew what he was like though and just accepted it. he can do what he wants with his money. Shouldnt have looked after him though - i personally spent about 25k on accommodation whilst caring for the old bugger.

At least I can leave my estate to anyone I like. I know who I will leave it to as well.

You can, but you must have good reason and best to put a full explanation in the Will.

The child will sue and likely get awarded something by the court and the cost of defending the action comes out of the estate, forget who told me that  Wink

If you leave one of your kids a share of your estate can you stipulate how it must be spent?

Say on a house as an example.

Yes....I can imagine the relevant Clause in my head as I type.  You'd direct the Executor to have the House purchased and then transferred to the intended beneficiary with appropriate conditions, if any.

If I am wrong about that strategy....buy the House now, and leave the intended beneficiary a life interest in it.
