Brian ~ I stand corrected. It has been American military personnel.
But 42 dead is 42 too many in a guerrilla war that sees no end and has achieved bugger-all.
As David Oldfield and others have been heard to say: "Bring our boys home".
'Policing' the Middle Eastern 'trouble spots' could go on for centuries for as long as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Pakistan are allowed to finance and encourage the mischief-makers over there.
Of the two recent wars, Afghanistan is the only one I support. Afghanistan came about because of a direct attack on the US - a key ally of Australia. The war in Afghanistan has achieved far more than you're willing to admit to.
It has created a road network, of paved, sealed roads across the country, enabling the Afghani people to get their goods more easily to market. It has created a power system. It has
created a semi-Democratic government which is a vast improvement over it's predecessor. Afghani people get to vote who represents and leads them. Women are being educated in Kabul and children largely attend school in the provinces. Afghanistan is a nation still in development and has taken the first steps in bringing the Taliban into it. The Taliban is talking with the Government.
3000 was a wild, outlandish figure, Herbie and I'm glad you recognise that.
We basically have brought our boys home. They came home over two years ago. So, in reality, you're just spouting bullshit. A not unusual experience for you, Herbie, hey?
Speaking of BS your whole response is that in spades.
It's all about controlling oil resources & the drug trade.
Paved roads, goods to market ..... yeah the produce from the Opium Poppy.
And although bad the TALIBAN stopped the abhorrent homosexual child abuse of Bacha Bazi ... which has resurfaced since the western occupation ..... and soldiers have been told to ignore it.
Brian for an educated knowall you make a fine ignoramus.
