Its official

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has suffered his
30th consecutive loss
to Labor in the latest Newspoll - the same marker he used when rolling Tony Abbott for the top job in 2015.
The Coalition trails Labor 48-52 on a two party preferred basis, according to results published by The Australian tonight.
However, Mr Turnbull remains preferred PM at 38 per cent to Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's 36 per cent.

The national survey of 1597 voters was done between April 5 and 8.

Malcolm will earn some points for having a spill and then winning back his PMship.

If he doesn't call it, then like Abbott the "no cuts to etc" lie will be stuck on him until the predicted electoral loss.

No federal government in Australia will get the support of the people in this social media world we now live in.

We would be better off returning to the 1960's when most people worked in factories and one family member stayed at home.

Certainly the "education revolution" turned most people into educated greedy idiots.

I think PM Malcolm had been weighed down by the extreme right of the party.   If you remember, when he first overthrow PM Abbott after just 1/2 term of extreme right wing politics, people were overjoyed.  They thought the politics would swing back to the middle, and the mistakes would be undone.   As a result, his approval rating was through the roof.

But then, he retreated pretty much back to PM Abbott policy, and too afraid to move.   And that slowly eroded his popularity away.   You see, Mr Shorten did not do anything, he did it all to himself.

He should have acted way before the last election.  He should have gotten his leather jacket out, and do those things that he wanted to, like he said when he was frequent on Q&A.  Do that he would have been very popular with the people, and his party room cant do anything to him.

He'd do well to take some advice from John Anderson.

I heard him somewhere on the weekend (can't remember where), and he was talking sense.

I think he had a small window from between about September 2015 and Christmas 2015 when he had the opportunity to push a real 'Malcolm Turnbull' agenda. His polling was that high that he really could have just given the finger to the right in his party. Yet what did he do? He just waffled on about innovation without actually doing anything. After that period, the opportunity was lost - as the polls started narrowing, the right in his party became emoldened, and Turnbull froze with fear. His only solution then was to call a DD election. Hit the reset button, get his own mandate and try again. The result of course was a 1 seat majority, his authority and legitimacy in his own party shot to pieces. He's been paralyzed ever since. Two things have probably kept him in his place until now - 1. the lack of any alternative and 2. the inability of Shorten to really ram home his advantage in terms of poll numbers.

Good. It means politicians are for about the first time in history actually held to account by society. We don't need a public fawning over politicians and giving them carte- blanche to enact whatever they want. Its actually a good thing that politicians are constantly looking over their shoulders and have little confidence about the security of their positions.

"popularist decisions" are generally the right decisions, IMO. Populism generally opposes the oligarchy of big business that so pervades our democracy today. Its complete nonsense that 'traditional' governance that is so entwined with helping the rich and powerful is whats best for the country. Of course it can turn nasty when it turns to racism and persecuting 'the other' - but I think that is largely manufactured by the politicians themselves. By and large 'populist' sentiment is fairly sensible and level-headed - contrary to, err, popular perception.

No federal government in Australia will get the support of the people in this social media world we now live in.

We would be better off returning to the 1960's when most people worked in factories and one family member stayed at home.

Certainly the "education revolution" turned most people into educated greedy idiots.

Good. It means politicians are for about the first time in history actually held to account by society. We don't need a public fawning over politicians and giving them carte- blanche to enact whatever they want. Its actually a good thing that politicians are constantly looking over their shoulders and have little confidence about the security of their positions.

The problem with this is it tends to lead to popularist decisions

"popularist decisions" are generally the right decisions, IMO. Populism generally opposes the oligarchy of big business that so pervades our democracy today. Its complete nonsense that 'traditional' governance that is so entwined with helping the rich and powerful is whats best for the country. Of course it can turn nasty when it turns to racism and persecuting 'the other' - but I think that is largely manufactured by the politicians themselves. By and large 'populist' sentiment is fairly sensible and level-headed - contrary to, err, popular perception.

There are exceptions.

To everything?

IMO Turnbull needs to go and a true Conservative put in charge....Turnbull will never win over the right wing which speaks to the parties base which is far from Liberal....My guess is Kevin Andrews might challenge???

leftie leaders can afford to be dithery emotional trainwrecks (rudd, gillard, beezley etc) because their voting block are dithery , overly emotional trainwrecks and they vibe with that.

but a conservative leader needs to be like trump, putin, deterte, thatcher, the guy from hungary,

conservative voters like bravery, masculinity, reverence, resilience and conscientousness because thats what they vibe with.

mal is not very brave, he is very unmasculine, he is soft, shakey, wishy woshy and weak.

as such he will be detroyed.

this is the natural order of things and nothing to be concerned about.

slowly people will come to see the perils of the weak leftie ideology and they will be drawn to rightie values.

china is converting to christianity faster then the romans
so is russia.
strong reverent, brave, resilient and influential...this will be the new conservatism which will roll over the weak leftie "wish fulfilment' politics and annihilate it.

HI ALL

There is an election looming?

Change leader now?

People like Turnball have rules that apply to them, @ rules that apply to everyone else,

They will go to an election with Turnball at the helm I see big rocks in their future

Cool Cool

The Liberals are doomed no matter what they do.

Change leader, they are unstable. The Liberal disease can only be cured by surgical excision of the government.

Keep Turnbull, they take a proven dud to the election.

And after the election ... oh boy. Forget Libspill. Libsplit would be under consideration.

the liberals are doomed.

why is this so?

because they are "fake" liberals.

they are big spending, big government, centralised power type of guys.

a new liberal movement may emerge.

it will be based on people assuming responsibility for their lives and standing up straight and proud and stopping the cry baby ,sooky, entitled , leaning on canberra to fix every little problem in their lives.

thats going to be a hard sell to fat steve and fat janeen.

they (and all of the electorate) have become so mediocre, lazy and entitled that its doubtful they can be sold a message of the noble conservative.

but as the economy goes over the cliff, and real pain comes, this pain will provide the emotional juice for change.

a new more resilient australian conservatism will be born.

fat steve and fat janeen will vote for Bill until it becomes so blindingly obvious that socialism is a failure that they "wake up".

venezuala (the most recent socialist state) has just passed laws saying that doctors cannot write starvation as the cause of death on a death certificate. there were so many cases that it was making the government look bad.  steve and janeen wont vote conservative til they are starving. by then they will be skinny steve and skinny janeen,  Wink

julia.

this is of no concern.

there will need to be a descent into the ashes before the "superior man"  the "noble conservative" can rise like a pheonix from the ashes.

with Bill beholden to the socialists , this process will be accelerated.

Bill is the catalyst that will finally make australians see the true horrors of the socialists.

and not a moment too soon  Wink
