If you had the intestinal fortitude to sit and look at the posts Booby has made about the imaginary ice age you will see a LOT are about record precipitation as rain, hail or snow as a “sign of the ice age.”

But think about it: if you wanted to boil a kettle (producing water vapor) would you put it in the fridge or on the stove? Before moisture can condense then fall as rain, hail or snow it must first be evaporated! Now, do you think more water would evaporate from colder or hotter seas?

I don't have the intestinal fortitude to go through 400 pages on the Ice Age. I'm not trying to denigrate hardworking scientists, but they mostly rely on theories to make their predictions.

Yes - I believe the earth is warming and it is also cooling in different places, but I believe this is a cycle. Maybe global warming is the next cycle or maybe it's global cooling? We can't be certain because we still haven't determined how long it is between each major cycle.

There have always been deadly natural disasters which have destroyed huge tracts of earth - even before we had to worry about over population and greenhouse gas emissions.

What part of a volcanic eruption causes cooling, Lees?

I'm sorry. I thought you knew. Wink

It is particulates, ash etc.  Thanks for asking. It must be good to expand your knowledge base.

Wow, all the time to check and you get it wrong.

It is aerosols, sulphates, that are ejected to the top of the atmosphere and reflect sunlight away.

Wow, 0/10 for that!

Theories are tested by observation and experiment mantra. That is the strength, the self–correcting nature of science. All scientists try to falsify theories, that is how it progresses.

maybe you need to check the definition of aerosols. Wink

"Although sulfates are known to linger in the atmosphere for months or years, researchers previously assumed that ash particles fall from the sky soon after an eruption and therefore don’t contribute to cooling."

https://eos.org/research-spotlights/volcanic-ash-contributes-to-climate-cooling

So good to keep you on your toes.

SO2? Doesn't SO2 have the potential to be a greenhouse gas? Wink

"Volcanic ash or dust released into the atmosphere during an eruption shade sunlight and cause temporary cooling. Larger particles of ash have little effect because they fall out of the air quickly. Small ash particles form a dark cloud in the troposphere that shades and cools the area directly below. Most of these particles fall out of the atmosphere within rain a few hours or days after an eruption. But the smallest particles of dust get into the stratosphere and are able to travel vast distances, often worldwide."

You didn’t know what part of the volcano causes some trivial cooling.

That is the post of the idiot.

Tell us how trivial is the SO2?

Tell us how trivial is the IR from the Sun?

Tell us why SO2 is not a GHG.

You tell us; you know about trivialities. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Jeez, you REALLY are dumb, Lees!

SO2 is one of the sulphates.

If it is at the very top of the atmosphere and reflects sunlight—Where the hell does the greenhouse effect come into it?

You really cannot think, can you? Without a denier website to call on you are like a 5 year old trying to debate learned adults.

How does it get there?

"The indirect greenhouse gases are non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOx) comprised of nitrogen monoxide (NO)
and nitrogen dioxide (NO2 ), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and carbon monoxide (CO)."

The indirect greenhouse gases contribute to global warming by producing direct greenhouse gases through reactions with other chemical compounds,
through their own chemical transformations, influencing the atmospheric lifetime of other greenhouse gases, and affecting the absorptive characteristics of the atmosphere such as affecting cloud formation (United States Environmental Protection Agency, “Inventory”
ES-2). "

http://www.beyondtoxics.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/OTA_Report-BiomassContrib...

So it is an indirect GHG. Wink

You are not very good at this are you? You can't even google it. Wink

How does it get there?

How does it GET there?

How does it get THERE?

It gets spewed out in volcanic eruptions, son! Sulphates are light!

Why do you seek to prove you are the idiot your village is missing?

Far flipping out!

Very good. it is a sulphate . it can be ejecta from volcanoes.
It is a GHG. Doesn't matter whether it is in the lower atmosphere or at "the very top of the atmosphere.

Because in my village we look to the east for the idiots. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

BTW - I notice you didn't address it as a GHG. Wink
