Tell me Lee....what does the vast majority of scientists say on the subject?
We don't know. The AMS did a survey and it came back that 52% said AGW was mostly caused by humans, You can of course find a figure supposedly 97% by Cook et al 2013.
However the abstract of that paper reads in part -
"We analyze the evolution of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW) in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, examining 11 944 climate abstracts from 1991–2011 matching the topics 'global climate change' or 'global warming'. We find that 66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW,
32.6% endorsed AGW, 0.7% rejected AGW and 0.3% were uncertain about the cause of global warming.
Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming. "
http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/8/2/024024A couple of things to note -
It does not say the majority of AGW is human caused. It does not give a percentage at all.
97.1% of 32.6% of Abstracts is not 97% of scientists. It equates to 31..6% of Abstracts. Seeing as most papers have multiple authors and the authors have multiple papers, I will leave you to guess the number of climate scientists that support AGW.
