By George, Herb, I think you've got something here.  For ages we've had a truck laden with bridge spans park overnight every night across the street and start up pre-dawn.... there's a servo with a lay-over for trucks up the road and countless truck lay-over spots now on the Pacific Highway (same as toilet stops, BTW - no need for Neanderthals to drop out the Old Fellah and piss on the side of the road.... doesn't worry me, but upsets the ladies who feel they are second class treated)...

fining ratepayers....noice... typical Qld though

how about the ratepayers fine the council for allowing their homes to get flooded every time it rains Smiley Smiley Smiley

You wouldn't know what's typically QLD.

Not living here & all Roll Eyes

How about you come up with something you have a clue about?

How about people do some research prior & take some responsibility for where they choose to live?

Not everywhere gets flooded out.

Yes, the refrigeration units.

I had a similar problem once.

These truck drivers really are the most inconsiderate bastards.

Essentially, they are Aquascoot's Alpha-male dominant types with huge narcissistic egos that prompt them to become vocally very violent and threatening if you should suggest their truck is not welcomed in the street.

I just asked an american friend who is a truckie if they bring their rigs home when they arent driving and they said no it goes to the base and they drive their car. So its not a new concept.

HOLD it right there, Bucko!

I'm talking about owner~drivers and not those who drive for private companies that have their own depots and car parks.

The arsehole up the road from me (since left) worked for a company only a ten minute drive from here where it had a big depot, but this smartalec came to an arrangement with the company that he could take it home at the end of the day just like a family car - so long as he did all the greasing and mechanical maintenance on it.

A sweet deal, but not for us neighbours.

Yeah someone explained that in a subsequent post. Thing is I have been annoyed by trucks parked in suburban settings too over the years. I thought they didnt have a choice. Also I used to live next door to someone that rode a harley on weekends (at 7am!).

I understand your ‘Toughen up Australia!’ attitude on this being a matter only of concern to pretentious wankers who live out in the cheaper suburbs but who feel there is no reason why the privileged conditions and residential advantages of living in the leafy North Shore suburbs shouldn’t also be enjoyed by the good and decent folk living in places such as Mt Druitt and St Mary’s.

The Working Class generations of today have moved a lot further on from their grandfather’s time when standards of living were rough and fairly basic to how they are today.

I worked all my life among noisy machinery while wearing noise reduction ear-plugs by order of the Industrial insurance companies and the unions, and what me and my workmates felt we deserved at the end of the day was to go home to hearth-and-home in a street that looked visibly ‘residential’ and not one dominated by large hulks of vehicular industrial machinery.

But I do have some sympathy for your attitude that some of us might be too intolerant of these seemingly minor inconveniences.

I wish they would fine the drug lab residents living across the road from me. Not only do they leave their rubbish and recycle wheelie bins out all week they have left their yard to grow beyond 2ft high. Perhaps they have someone come around and mow their yard now and then. But, even before the rain came, the yard looked more untidy than I have ever left mine.

That crap about giving ppl 24 hours to take their bin in is a bit much. I know ppl that work long hours and if their rubbish hasnt been picked up when they leave they dont want to come home to a fine.

How is 24 hours not long enough?

Are these people doing 20 hour shifts?

If you leave at 8am in the morning and your rubbish has not been picked up yet, getting home at 4 to 6pm at night should keep you within the 24 hour period by a good 12 hours.
