When we become a 'Republic'  Why TF should any other country 'look after' us?

Brexit has nothing to do with what Australia decides to do in the future.

We can always throw bananas at the enemy once we become a 'Republic'.........we'll have little else to confront a foe with.
......

We'll continue to be a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Becoming a Republic won't cause any countries, especially not the UK or the US, to turn their back on us.

Why would it?

Why shouldn't it, Australia wants its independence, so why expect the protection of others?

I'm not sure you understand what becoming a Republic actually means.

Or will they be like the White South Africans and 'flee' like chickens to another country? Huh

I bet a lot of White Australians will do the 'Down Under Grovel' to the USA to save them. It's a 'grovel' because the USA will always consider Australia like an extended-larger version of the Confederate South (Federation Star on the Australian Flag).

A 'convict' for Britain, for want of being a 'groveller' to the USA.

You seem to believe that Australia is protected by the UK military and is somehow subservient to the UK due to the Governor-General (Of whom the Republicans say we only need to change the name to President and everything will be bonza.) Any knowledgeable person is aware you are wrong on both counts.

And anyone with intuition into the human psyche can tell you a filled with confused resentment. Your immediate problem is that you want to believe crap. Its your hobby.

Yes.

There'll be another one, though.

As time passes, voters die and children grow up and become eligible to vote.

The group of people who vote in the next republic referendum won't be the exact same group who voted in the 1999 referendum.

Federal elections are held every three years - do you object to that?

Why do you think it's okay to have more than one election for a federal government, but it's not okay to have more than one election for a republic?

Yes, those who argue that our Head of State should be born into that position (with no discernible qualifications) certainly do get hung up on the term 'President', don't they?

(We don't have to use that term - we can call them Head Aussie, if you like).

They also get their knickers in a knot over the cost of printing new stationery (Lol).

Oh, and they get really upset about missing out on the Commonwealth Games.

(We won't miss out on the Commonwealth Games, by the way - we will remain a member of the Commonwealth).

Monarchists are a funny bunch of duffers.
