None of those organisms is from Challenger Deep. The giveaway for instance is when they actually list the depths they find them at and its nothing like Challenger Deep depth.

The only confirmed lifeforms at Challenger Deep were sea cucumbers, scale worms and shrimp.

I was hugely impressed when director James Cameron descended into the depths in this little bubble of a thing. That takes guts or madness - I don't know which.

Nah, just good engineering.

It takes guts to trust others to get the 'engineering' right.

We've seen the "Oops" factor several times at NASA ... burn-outs that roasted people while too sharply reentering the stratosphere at 23,000k/h ... and then the rubber 'O'-ring that cost lives ... and then ceramic scales lifting off from the body of the rocker.

Going 10km down in somebody's pet project is no mean feat.

I was watching the "Get Krackin'" series. They had a brief segment where one of the Kate's (Mclellan) said that they were going to talk to "Mariana.... Mariana Trench". The other Kate (McCartney) responded that it was actually *The* Mariana Trench. Mclellan responded with "Yes, she really is an icon".

Director James Cameron went down in an Australian designed Submersible built in Pyrmont (and yet we need a foreign nation to build naval subs), in Sydney.

It effectively took him down to the bottom of the Marianna Trench 11 or 13kms deep (I can't remember).
Down there in the 'Hadal Zone' (far deeper than the Abyssal Zone) - there is no real 'life'.
Hardly to no oxygen in the water and a crushing weight that even 'blob-fish' can't take.
Only small worms to feed on dead rot (snow) that takes ages to float down that deep.

Nothing but 'Death' down there, that deep.
It's like the outer rim of the Galaxy ...nothing but 'void' left.

Hadal

That was an interesting documentary James Cameron did for the Mariana Trench. I figured that nothing could be more batshit boring than a submersible plunging 11km below the surface. However, the story was quite good.

You definitely don't want to be a claustrophobia sufferer down there in The Abyss - or have a vivid imagination.

Yes. It's easier to send people into Space (especially with such things being funded by Taxpayers) than down into the Hadal region, let alone the Abyssal region.
A lot of submersibles can reach into the Abyssal. But only a few have gone down into the deeper Hadal.

The James Cameron doco was quite good. Glad someone like him did it. Pyrmont did Australia proud.

I wonder how thin the crust is under the Marianna Trench?
Another 5km of crust left - before magma?

I hear North Korea is setting off Nukes underground to make a hole - so they can sneak into USA for a surprise attack.  Cheesy

He was more concerned about the submersible's integrity collapsing and turning Cameron into instant chub.
