LW is definitely a bit unbalanced after not 1 but 2 thrilling Lib victories which will set the trend for the federal election.

As there are only 10% membership of the corrupt unions now one would say there are 90% good reasons NOT to waste your money on a union which will put you out of a job when they force your employer to close.

unions are about "taker mentality".

they make the employee focused on what he can get, what he can take.

a good employer /employee relationship is like a good marriage.

both partners have to focus on what they can contribute.

unions are , therefore, a toxic influence on this sacred and vital relationship.

eventually , being a taker, destroys trust and ends in tears.

this is what will inevitably happen to anyone who swallows the union philosophy of being self interested.

your employer will be forced to divorce you and you will be left a butt hurt and bitter individual.

far better to work collaboratively

these things should not need to be codified.

the employer should make sure the worker is well fed and watered in the same way he should make sure his machinery is well oiled and maintained.

the worker should feel passionate and engaged about his work.  you dont need to "take a break" from work you are passionate about.
if having time off from your work is seen as a source of joy, then you are simply doing the wrong sort of work.  you need a non-accrimonious divorce and you need to go find work that is meaningful.

Correct.

However, there are hundreds of employers out there who still refuse to give their workers their breaks.

There are even employers out there who refuse to allow workers to go to the toilet.

Without the good work of the Unions, more and more of these unscrupulous employers would be getting away with such illegal behaviour.

Thanks Unions   Smiley

So in life we are all supposed to just accept what is given to us and not "stand together" for the better of all, as I encourage humans to do daily??

Fair work Australia is a load of shite.
There is nothing fair about $17 50 p/h flat rate cleaning shitters for 12hrs a day yet we are just supposed to be thankful for the oportunity. Fair work is gov telling you "that's it".
Upskill yourself they say.....that costs money, money the worker doesn't have because of his rediculous wage and life outlays. Bare min is a roof, car, clothes, food, bills, comms. 17.50ph is not even going to cover those expenses.

Good bosses and emplyers are like good gov, they don't exist anymore.
Employers want biggest profits.....workers get lowest wages. If you jack up then you get laid off and we will find someone that will do it for that price....until they wake up and want more.....the process never stops. Seems fair ey?
OR
A union goes in and bargains with the employer for a deal that will benifit the employer as well as the worker. Everyone makes money and we all go home safely.
Give me a union jobsite any day.

These office wankers with their tiled bathrooms, clean lunchrooms, clean environments have absolutely no idea what a bob the builder job site is like.
Then add the piss poor safety levels and you have a recipe for disaster....as happens every week in construction. As well as the suicide rate that is rising quicker than a schoolboy in a playboy mansion.

If the unions go then there needs to be a level playing field accross ALL employment in Australia. That will bever happen so the unions closing down will bever happen.

Thanks for my wage.
Thanks for having my back when I raise safety concerns with employers.
Thanks for recognising the massive hours I work and compensating my time away from my family.
Thanks for my clean lunch room.
Thanks for putting more than 1 toilet on a site with more than 100 men.
Thanks for standing up to our thieving gov.
Many more thanks for the benifits such as dental and legal help should I need it at work.

Eureka Stockade is somethimg we should be proud of.
Standing up to a gov that is so corrupted. It needs to happen again IMHO.

Union strong!

But Aquascot, you are assuming the position of employer and employee are of equal status, who would treat each other with respect.  That is just fantasy.  Some business cant even being fair to each other, let along their employees.   Yes, it may be true for say an experienced surgeon seeking work at a country hospital.   But not everyone is or can be.
