Labor Smashing Pensioners for foreign AID...
Mar 14th, 2018 at 9:02pm

Quote:
Bill Shorten and Labor want to raise taxes on pensioners and retirees to fund its promise to increase Australia's foreign aid spending by billions of dollars.

It seems Labor has hired a potato to come up with their new policies!

Penny Wong has promised to "rebuild" the foreign aid budget.

Let's look at what that actually means. If our foreign aid spending is returned to levels it reached under the Rudd/Gillard Labor government and then simply maintained for ten years,
it would cost the Australian taxpayer well over $20 BILLION!

Looks like Labor have singled out Aussie pensioners as they ones who have to pay for their foreign aid promises!

fair dinkum...

what halfwit would vote Labor to betray hard working Australians???  Angry

But isn't a refund denied an additional tax? It means that whatever amount of money they earned they are now effectively taxed at a higher rate to deny them that refund.

The dividend imputation means those funds belong to the share owner.

Labor propose to change the policy back to it's original purpose until Howard f@#ked it so your analogy is wrong....The Coalition only have cuts to health and education to find savings yet you see no problem with that???

Nope.  Not wrong.

If you think it wrong please point to how a refund denied is NOT a de facto tax increase.

Oh, You believe St Paul? Wink

"But get this, since almost all the shareholders of small and medium-sized companies get franking credits, the reduced measure's net cost to the budget (less company tax collections, offset by a corresponding reduction in franking credits) is likely to be minor.

It's only when you're handing tax cuts to the foreign shareholders in much bigger companies, as originally planned, that the (mainly unfunded) cost starts to mount up in later years."

https://www.smh.com.au/business/company-tax-cut-has-a-notsodirty-little-secret-2...

So St Paul really wanted to give the tax benefits to foreign investors. How nice of him.

Labor did not give the refund to millionaires they want to return it to it's original purpose....It was the wealthfare the Coalition gave that Labor proposes to remove....Nice try but a fail!!!

So now the poor pensioner with a few shares is now a millionaire? You are simply too funny.

So only to benefit millionaires overseas. With its " (mainly unfunded) cost starts to mount up in later years."

Good ole St Paul. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

You realise it is pensioners who generally don't pay tax, and so pensioners who will not get the due imputation credit refund?
All this talk of millionaires is so much waffle. They will still get their refund. Unless it is in an SMSF.
