I certainly would cods. Why do you deny he had a sense of humour? He lived with this almost his whole life, do you think he would not have come to terms with it?

I'd be happy if someone pissed on my grave, at least I'd know that cared enough to do it. Well, I wouldn't know, I'd be dead but you get the drift.

Maybe he was overrated a little as a physicist because of his celebrity status, but what he displayed to mankind was not overrated at all.
Hope, G&D, brilliance, good humour, humility..etc. in the face of an uncertain lifespan.

I might get into the jokes a bit later on, but for now I'd like to reflect on what his magnificent life has meant to us all.
A real champion. He was great.

number one he isnt cold yet...

number two I find most of these "jokes" rather cruel...

there is a difference in my sense of humour to yours..

when you take the piss out of yourself  and when others do it..

it takes on a whole different meaning..

if the local drunk used you grave as a urinal as he staggered home every night..it might take on a whole different meaning as well. Sad even for you!

a good case study.

when confronted with problems in life (and motor neurone disease is a biggie), we either identify with the problem, become butthurt and resentful and we go down

or

we see the problem as a path to growth, we rise to the challenge and we go up.

there are no other possibilities.

certainly steven could have become resentful, there's reason to, the problem is that it doesnt help.

what would 99.9 % of people have done when confronted with this problem, what would fat steve and fat janeen have done.
Marched down to centrelink and immediately gone into "taker" mentality, immediately gone into victim hood, self pity and bitterness.

its a very rare person that can rise above that.

its a rare person that can have the bottom fall out of their world but still pick up their cross and carry it as far up the hill as possible, without resentment and with a spirit of contribution.
theres nobility and glory in accepting challenges without resentment

Jung would call hawking an "archetypal hero" and ask us to study what he did and try to do what he did.

very few will.

the mainstream media and the cultural hypnosis are full of stories of people denied the disability pension, precious snowflakes who got all butt hurt because someone offended them, people who are encouraged to be victims their whole lives.

there is no nobility in that, there is no glory in that.

thats the path to creating a personal hell here on earth.

there was justification for hawking to do just that. tragedy isnt hell, but the modern groupthink encourages most people to make every little disappointment into hell.  How ugly and how mediocre .

well done Mr Hawking, hope you have a biography ready to be read

It would be cruel if Stephen Hawking was born Stephen Walking or Stephen Talking because he can do neither.

I seriously doubt that he would give you a second thought.

I know  I find nothing amusing about a person dying  and even more so a person as crippled as he was....

he had more guts than anyone I have ever come across.. he deserves respect not crap...

I dont know about you   but I have sort of come to expect it from ozpol members lately  sadly, some cant say a nice word about the living   now its the deads turn....

seems to me the quality of this place is sinking faster than first thought... Sad Sad Sad
