One of the pleasures of life is the avoidance of TV ads.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Except for a few, most of the 'starring' actors of today are B-graders compared to those of yesteryear who had charisma and a certain gravitas that simply isn't there today.

Two of my favourites today are Anthony Hopkins and Denzel Washington. There are others too, but not many.

Remember about 5 years ago how we were told how wonderful digital TV was going to be once it was fully implemented and the analogue system was completely shut off?

We were lied to - what a surprise.

Reality TV garbage, almost non stop ads, annoying 'pop-ups' while you're trying to enjoy the 3 or 4 minutes of actual program during the aforementioned ads and program advertising next to the station logo at the bottom right hand corner of the screen which stays there for the entire duration of the small sections of actual program between ad breaks.

No wonder so many people have abandoned free to air commercial TV and now watch Netflix, Stan, etc.

I have absolutely no sympathy for the FTA stations if they eventually go broke (Channel 10 and it's associated channels - I'm looking at you for starters). They have brought it all upon themselves.

Would not have done that 20 years ago. Things have changed ,TV is losing its power
