Read your own bible yourself - cover to cover.

I believe The Bible is intended to be read by everyone as one entire book.
From Genesis to Revelation.

Reading it myself cover to cover has given me a broad overview.
It puts things in perspective.

I can't be told big lies about it.
I am happy to say 'I did not see it that way' or 'I can't recall that.'

The NIV.

They all tell the same story, so I can't foresee any significant differences.

BigOl64,

I'd venture to guess, that you have watched the The Lord of the Rings trilogy films by J. R. R. Tolkien ?

The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

Yes, i did watch them.

IMO, the bible is a book that is intended to touch our conscience.

I would say, that many people don't appreciate those types of 'impositions'.

Romans 8:7
.....the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Revelation 12:17
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

In worshiping God, i do not have to be perfect.

I only have to be sorry, in my heart.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

A Bible scholar who interpreted the whole Bible from ancient Greek
told me that the KJV was the closest to the original version.

Many Christians believe the KJV is "divinely inspired" because of the divine language used.

Personally, I have always preferred the King Charles version.   It is extremely rare and hard to find but well worth reading.

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I found all of JRR Tolkin's work tedious and could barely sit through the movies of the same name.

The bible in no different, just not into fantasy and drivel, maybe there are fanboys like longy who get into the sh1t, but not I.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

If its the Bible, then it would have to be the King James version..

You don't have to be religious (or even a Christian) to agree that it rivals Shakespeare in its magnificent poetic quotability.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The King James version [aka the Authorised Version] is the bible version i prefer.
