Tributes have poured in for Emma Chambers, who has died aged 53.

The actress - famous for roles in Notting Hill and The Vicar of Dibley - was much-loved by her famous co-stars.

And her friends insist Chambers was just was funny and warm as she appeared on screen.

Her on-screen big brother Hugh Grant tweeted: "Emma Chambers was a hilarious and very warm person and of course a brilliant actress. Very sad news."

The actor played Will in 1999 film Notting Hill - who was the unlucky-in-love brother of quirky Honey - played by Chambers.

Meanwhile, the film's creator Richard Curtis' wife Emma Freud also paid tribute.

She tweeted: "Our beautiful friend Emma Chambers has died at the age of 53. We're very very sad. She was a great, great comedy performer, and a truly fine actress. And a tender, sweet, funny, unusual, loving human being."

Dawn French also paid tribute to her "loving friend" Emma.

The actresses played best friends in The Vicar of Dibley for 13 years - and their bond spilled over into real life.

"Emma was a very bright spark and the most loyal and loving friend anyone could wish for," Dawn French told Mirror Online today.

"I will miss her very much."

Very sad. 53 much too young.

I will remember her too for her role, with Julia Sawhala, in Martin Chuzzlewit as the two Pecksniff daughters.
