Police are hunting for two suspects after four robberies in Sydney's inner west on Saturday, which left one man in a critical condition.

The four separate incidents during the violent crime spree, which occurred between 12.20am and 1.30pm on Saturday, are believed to be linked, according to police

The first attack occurred when a man was grabbed from behind and assaulted while walking on Arthur Street in Ashfield about 12.20am.

The 29-year-old man suffered swelling and bruising to his face.

After robbing the man, the male offender fled east along Arthur Street, police said.

A few hours later, about 5.30am, a 31-year-old man was walking along Wellbank Street in North Strathfield when he was grabbed and threatened.

After surrendering his property to the male offender, who police said was in company with another man, a struggle broke out leaving the victim with an injured elbow.

The third incident, about 1pm, was more brazen.

A 64-year-old man had just parked his car on Newington Street in Enmore when two men approached him.

Police allege the two men assaulted the victim and stole his wallet.

During the assault, the man fell to the ground and injured his head.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with a brain bleed, but on Sunday afternoon police said his condition was stable.

A witness saw the two men leaving the scene in a dark coloured hatchback.

The final attack happened at 1.30pm when a 27-year-old man was walking along Hawkhurst Street in Marrickville.

Police said he was also grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.

After losing consciousness momentarily, he observed three men going through his pockets, taking his mobile phone and wallet.

They were last seen getting into a black hatchback, which was later identified as stolen.

A short time later, the car was found in a laneway in Dulwich Hill.

Police believe the four incidents are linked.

One male has been described as being of African appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s, 155-160cm tall, wearing track pants and a black jacket.

Another has been described as Middle Eastern or Mediterranean in appearance, aged in his early to mid 20s, 165-170cm tall, with a ponytail, track pants and a black jacket.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything relating to any of these incidents to call Crime Stoppers.
