USD $52.44 Flea Collar for Cats
Feb 25th, 2018 at 7:21am

I just ordered one.

Bayer Seresto Flea and Tick Collar

Just one flea collar for cats offers 8 continuous months of protection

Anyone here tried it? I have used the topical flea & tick treatment for years now and it this product works then it will be cheaper than the monthly treatment.

Good luck with that.

I gave up flea collars yeeeeears ago on my three cats as being totally and utterly useless. However, I have had occasional success with ointments applied to the scruff of the neck.

Good luck with it.

I always wanted to run a little business carting around a box in a trailer where you put a customer's dog or cat in it with its head poking out an adjustable aperture, and then either a gas or a liquid spray kills every flea on it.

I reckon it would be a successful business, and after taking out the relevant patents you could then franchise it out across the nation.

Flea collars tend to get snagged on objects so they fall off.
Also some cats can be poisoned by them - it makes them sick.

The "advantage II" topical flea treatment for cats has been 100% effective over the years. Monthly (warm months) I shave a tiny spot on the back of the cat's neck and apply. But it's pricey and a pain in the arse.

That is my worry - the cat will return home without its expensive flea collar ...

I used to find that a flea collar would last about a week before it was lost.

You could make a good living prowling around at night stealing the collars off the cats and selling them 2nd hand.

Yes...recommended to me, bit the bullet and got 2, we have two cats obviously, amazingly they do work, for 12 months ive been combing, washing, dusting, doing the chemical on the base of the neck, bombing the house carpets.....driving me insane as better half brought a long hair rescue kitten home when i was away, full of fleas.

The cost is insane but they work.

I found a cat of mine years ago with the flea collar caught around his mouth where he'd tried to bite through it to get it off. It had become a gag and was choking him. Flea collars are cheaper than the paste, but not effective in eliminating fleas and they are obviously more dangerous too.

I've been using Advocate (fleas, heartworm & worms) for a couple of years and find it very effective. You can buy a 6 pack at some chemists for $82 (cheaper than a vet or pet shop). It works out at $13 a month which is reasonable value as it covers everything and definitely works with fleas for at least 3 weeks out of the month. A 3 pack will cost up to $70 so you save by investing a few dollars more for the larger pack.
