The more you give them, pamper them, pay attention to them, coddle them ~ the MORE MORE MORE they want out of you until you begin to go INSAAANE with frustration with them.

I fed Gizmo, I watered Gizmo, I put him in his favourite basket in the lounge room, but then he sat up and stared solidly at me for 15 minutes until in a fit of temper I tossed him out of the house.

Never NEVER think that your cats give a rat's arse about you personally ... it has always been what they can get out of you.

Sorry Herbert, you will have to repeat this section of 'Catology, Cert 1'

I've also dumped both Sooty and Muffin outside the house.

Meanwhile, Gizmo's back in his basket and sleeping.

All they need is not to whine after I've given them a full meal, and not to sit and stare at me expectantly for more than a few minutes as though they're waiting for more MORE
MORE
.

If you're getting elderly and cranky ~ never own a cat.

I always leave some kibble in their bowl Herb- so they can graze throughout the day because cats just tend to eat little and often and at their own pace- it also makes it easier for you- and feed them some fresh once a day-leaving a bit of kibble in their bowl solves the problem of them being hungry and annoying you when you just couldn't be bothered- mine eat a lot and if I didn't leave food in their bowl they would always be leading me back to the fridge- every 5 minutes ! try it

that might be a bad idea with our cats

yes some cats might over do it lol- but mine just graze and that keeps them happy- you can buy diet food for cats- low calorie biscuits/kibble
