Should the government buy back public assets?

We know that governments are in the business of selling off public assets. Should a future government be willing to buy back public assets? Or confiscate them?

Confiscation is not an option because it would be unconstitutional. Acquisition of private property by the Federal government can only be done on just terms.

According to all the economists, the government is going broke and will be raising pension age until it intersects with the average death age. So, they would have to borrow the money to buy back assets. Any profit the asset made would be already spent. Why bother?

The assets are so run down that we should pay 1 cent in the dollar for them.

e.g.

every time we get a 1 day heatwave or 100km/hr wind
the electricity fails - what a joke.

Private industry stinks.

State governments can confiscate assets. Should they do so?

The States can do it though. There is no constitutional restriction on the States from confiscating assets.

The case of British Rail severely undermines the argument that public transport in private hands is more efficient. Corbyn has pledged to put this asset back into public hands.

Perhaps place such strong restrictions on them that they can be handed back!

Just nationalise them and pay what the Government thinks is a fair price

Get the critical assetts back in public ownership!

Mike Baird arsehole first class and bar sold off the Electricity Grid for a relative pittance then bailed to a private bank with a multi million dollar pay check involved..like I said...arsehole!
