IMO immigration is too high because we're not raising enough taxes to pay for the infrastructure that is needed for so many people. Every extra person costs roughly $50,000 to pay for infrastructure such as roads, schools and hospitals and this extra cost is not being met.

We have thousands of illegal immigrants entering the country and disappearing each year, mostly visa overstayers. Nothing is being done to stop this. Employers who employ them are not being punished for using black market labour. Why?

So leave out anything to do with xenophobia and take a look at it pragmatically.

We're not building enough infrastructure. Either taxes have to go up to pay for it or immigration has to come down.
We have some skills shortages. Either we spend more to train our own people or we import them.

And so on.

Notice how some tradeoffs are necessary. Reducing immigration would allow us to spend a little less on infrastructure and require a little more spending on education. We would displace fewer of our people from jobs, so a little less needs to be spent on social security.

This is why Morrison is being misleading when he argues that the Budget would be "$4 to $5 billion" worse off. Less spending is also required. And face it ... a Budget that requires immigration to be balanced is clearly not sustainable.

Melbourne is choking with too many people and too many cars.
All the roads are choked for 2 to 3 hours morning and night.
Even on Sunday afternoon the roads are at a stand still in many places.
I'm moving out - it's too much for me.
