If the Sappho quote is genuine, and I doubt it, anyone who would actually want to moderate the Atheism Forum would have to be ready for dulls-ville.

It comes down to this: they believe in God or they don't, or they are agnostic. I reject all three, and the atheists don't give a damn anyway. Then the new mod is going to have to read through reams of tripe from, Taverner, Capisanora, Bobby, Sunlightboy, Yadda, Brian, Gandalf, Scoot and slew of other fruitcakes who insist they have inside information on the true nature of the Cosmos. Yep, God chose them for special treatment. How bloody dull!

Now that's more like it. I commend you, but the problem with atheism will always be a belief allowing itself to be defined by what it does not believe. Philosophically, you'd be better off saving virgins from being thrown into volcanoes.

religion.

Atheism is not PRO anything.
Just very ANTI religion.

Think of a person on the field who's only job is to take you out with a head-high tackle. That person does nothing else on the field. Just there to make sure you can't play.

Atheism is a flawed and default existence of being and relies heavily on Religion for its existence ...ironically.

Beyond this - Atheism is more or less a 'hitman' for Science against Religion.
Atheists wear black skivvys, drink café-lattes, have hipster beards now and are totally dependent on the Media circus.

you either believe or you dont.. but it all interacts with religion...

how can you talk about atheism without mentioning religion??????..or books on religion  or wars on religion......

The only reason Sappho wanted to start an Atheist sub-forum was to engage  the then current head of the Atheist Foundation of Australia. You see, Sappho was banned from that forum because she questioned why an Org. that claims to be without religion, should want to use laws protecting religious expression to get their message made public.

Now, her absence shows her lack of interest.

Anyway - Atheism is just an ANTI expression that was foundered against Religion but 'unofficially' is very Pro-Science.

Did you know Religion was based on the innovation of 'Writing' and holds firmly on the concept of the 'Book' to justify its existence.
So, as an Atheist - do you accept the fact that you are on a Forum that is based on ...writing?

That's a common myth spread by theists. By definition atheism is a disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. Some people choose to be anti religious and some don't. Its up to the individual. There are no sets of rules.

I can guarantee you that the number of lives that science has saved vastly out numbers the lives lost because of religion.

Thats a false dichotomy. Writing developed an many different cultures under many different religions and had no connection to the religions. Considering that most people were illiterate until quite modern times your claim has no basis.

Here is where a good moderator should ask contributors to focus on the subject properly. Religion does not mean a belief in gods. It may be common usage in societies trying to crawl out from under the stupidity of Abrahamism, but in objective discussion it only clouds the subject. Pedantic? No. The common usage is flat out wrong and misleading.

MYTHOLOGY is the belief in God/Gods.
Religion: the manifestation of Writing (or the 'official' bounded 'book' of writing) is the vessel of using Mythology to its own ends.

Atheism - in its true form, developed as an ANTI against Religion. The fact that it has developed to be finally 'pro' at something and that is on behalf of Science, Media all things that will eventually find a home in Oceania for want of the Middle-East ...shows that it believes in something.

Religion was the 'mechanism' that helped the world branch out. It has more of a truer connection to the New World regions of North America, South America & Sahul (Australia) than Science and its Media culture which, even from the USA, shows a blatant BIAS towards all things European, Asia & Africa (Old Worlds) ...hence why Media love Obama was more Pro-Asian groveller than Pro-USA like Trump.

Yes but I can watch the Clipsal 500 do other stuff and still read here, multi tasking, reading a book requires being on public transport or dedicating enough time to read at least a few pages. Back to the race.

I think it's more of the fact that Books don't talk back to you like a Forum does. You suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder and can't stick to more than a few pages at a time.
