So that's where D'Orsogna ham comes from

WA smallgoods institution D’Orsogna has announced a $65 million expansion into Melbourne.

A 10,858sqm factory at Merrifield Business Park, 30km north of the city, to be built by MAB Corporation and Gibson Property Corporation, is expected to provide 240 jobs and will double the company’s manufacturing capacity.

D’Orsogna was founded by Italian migrant brothers Tommaso and Giovanni D’Orsogna, who opened a small family butcher shop in West Perth in 1949.

It has grown to employ more than 550 people.

“We’re thrilled to be calling Merrifield our Eastern States home very soon and proud to be partnering with MAB and GPC,” D’Orsogna managing director Brad Thomason said.

Keep an eye open for fat people vanishing from the streets of Melbourne.... pig and human apparently tastes very similar..... must be getting close to Soylent Green time, with all the whining yesterday or so about Australian farmers etc.... bizarre that our little population would be buying en masse from over-populated Asia...

We need -light to tell us all about the conspiracy..... aqua to tell us the alpha pig must lead the way and set high benchmarks for performance ..... longie to explain the finer points of porcine industrial relations, as in put a gun to their head and tell them they agree to become ham or they cop a bullet (WorkChoices Mk III) .... croc to explain the economics of the whole thing about pork productivity .... Unforgiven to roast us about how closet pom invaders brought those pigs here to the detriment of Aboriginals ... yadda to list endless links showing it's the fault of Muslims for off-loading sinful meat on us and it's part of the halal rort .... mothra to insist it's sexism because many of those pigs are female and shouldn't be simply regarded as ham objects...

The list is endless... but check your local police station for missing fat men...... just in case....

A friend of mine worked at D'Orsogna, many years ago, at that Palmyra site.

He's never eaten another sausage since then (you don't wanna know what they put in them).

Trivia: just a few hundred metres down the road from that site, is the grave of Bon Scott (the 37th anniversary of his death is this coming Monday).

Tell us all again how you love to put a little sausage in your mouth in the morning.

A well cooked breakfast sausage
Lashings of nice thick bacon
Some seasoned scrambled egg
And some fried tomato

The breakfast of champions

And why muzzos are never champions.

Ain't that right peccamitty?
