Guns and Cars
Feb 15th, 2018 at 9:40am

"Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day."

"Over 90% of all road fatalities occur in low and middle-income countries, which have less than half of the world's vehicles."

Solution = more cars.

Guns and Cars

Give a car/vehicle, OR a firearm, to an irresponsible ['un-tested'] person.      this a dangerous action which could very likely, result multiple fatalities.

Give a firearm [ANY firearm], to a      responsible       person.      "Nothing to see here. Move along."

The same circumstance and outcomes, would apply and could be expected, to any form of power or responsibility to act, given to persons of 1/ differing abilities or 2/ differing motivations.

No way, Jose!

The solution to the gun problem, is more guns.

So, using that "logic", the solution to the car problem is more cars.

Are you on board or not?

According to this site

http://www.ecology.com/birth-death-rates/

151,600 people die each day

Not sure what the car death figure should be

From Australian figures it seems to way down from 1970 I assume car safety features are the reason for that.

OK so you are happy with that specific number ?

Why not 3286 ? Slightly better.
Quoting a number out of context is very odd behaviour

I'd say most of that is due to (i)crap roads, (ii) large numbers of motorbikes and scooters mixing in traffic, (iii)poor driver training

There is no context ..... is this a shrinking number or growing number .... people do drive cars and die.

In Australia we have more safer cars and less deaths on the roads than back in 1970..... there is context.

Do you know what context is ?
A particular stat has to have a value then you look at that value and determine its significance !

I think you need to list out these $hit hole countries and the various factors some of which you have mentioned. In Vietnam they seem to get a whole family on a Vespa .... hit that versus one here it could have 5 times the stat impact on deaths !

I think its all natural variation the minority is countries with good roads and rules being obeyed. The majority of countries have terrible roads.

You're arguing with yourself.

I merely posted a stat, from a link.

Car manufacturers introduced seat belts.
The RTA claimed it was them who improved the DEATH toll.........by doing nuffink.

When car manufacturers introduced better brakes and handling
The RTA claimed it was them who improved the road toll.........by doing nuffink.

When car manufacturers started building cars with crash zones and crumple zones.
The RTA claimed credit for the improvement in the road toll.........by doing nuffink.

And when the road toll goes up
Because of the pathetic goat tracks, poor maintenance and pathetic building practices.
The R&M (the new RTA) blame the motorist and do.......nuffink.

They simply stick a camera on a pole and sit back doing, you guessed it.....nuffink.

Sack the lot, they are useless
