That is pretty sad Mantra and I love possums- but it is the stark reality of owning a cat- my Tom is supposed to come in every night but sometimes he just wont come- but kind of not too worried tbh- he would have to be the most hopeless hunter i have ever seen- it makes me laugh really- he just doesnt have the knack-- I keep him in for his own protection but of course if he were a procient hunter both purposes are served- hate to say it but after he caught the baby might have been for the best because if he dropped it you would have been left with an injured baby on your hands-

He's only young AG - he'll learn quickly if he's given the opportunity. I made the same mistake with Ruffy by giving him too much freedom. He seemed clumsy when he was young - but now he's about 4 - he's super efficient. Rigidly keeping him inside at night has slowed him down a little, but not enough. I found a giant curl grub on my back doorstep yesterday afternoon with the cat sitting proudly beside it. The grub had no damage to it at all, so I put it back in the garden. He treats frogs gently also when he catches them and brings them into me, but he needs to learn the difference between a large rat and a baby ringtail.
