The Toba volcanic winter did not decimate or disrupt human population in East Africa according to Uni of Arizona scientists.
Studies of vegetation before & after the event have shown no significant changes.

So that would have to suggest there would be no interruption to the out of Africa spread of modern humans?

74,000 years ago, the Sahara was probably undergoing a greening phase with plentiful rainfall. The Toba eruption would not have altered that fact. Possibly the eruption might have been a result of climatic conditions.

Admittedly, I am too tired to do any real thinking (never mind research on the topic). Tomorrow night, I will probably be back editing my posts, feeling a little embarrassed at what I typed tonight.

The First Fleet arrived and while they were swimming in the Hawkesbury, the local Kaffirs sneaked down and stole their clothes?

This thread was my little essay towards debunking the multiple homo sapiens evolution hypothesis, which I can't subscribe to.

I'm glad you clarified the point you were trying to make because you misrepresented the Arizona scientists

you said

Quote:
The Toba volcanic winter

The Arizona scientists said

Quote:
The Toba supereruption on the island of Sumatra about 74,000 years ago did not cause a six-year-long 'volcanic winter'

I said:
"The Toba volcanic winter did not decimate or disrupt human population in East Africa according to Uni of Arizona scientists.

. .which is a fair summary of what the article in Popular Archaeology said.

Why do you truncate what I said?
Are you the Inspector-General for Pedantry or something?

The article I saw didn't say that. There may have been one that affected the northern hemisphere only like the one around 1817. It didn't say that either.
What it was concentrating on was that the eruption didn't affect vegetation, and therefore sustenance, for the human populations in East Africa.

Don't know, but I don't think that's the same kind of evolutionary step as the leap from Homo Erectus (or whatever the penultimate species was) to Homo Sapiens.
Where are the multiple evolution location theorists? I'm interested in the odds of that occuring.

Can I ask what is the multi location theory is? We originated in Africa like all hominids but we have different admixtures of other hominids outside Africa and developed somewhat in isolation from each other. Pretty sure Europeans did not meet up with the Han until the early bronze age and the domestication of horses. We did not all evolve as one group. East Asians have Denisovian DNA, Europeans have Neanderthal DNA and the sub Saharan Africans have neither. All these populations were developing separately. What exactly are you at odds with?

Didn't boges do this in another thread recently? He started saying things about out of Africa theories, but he does not know anything at all about them. He'll just direct you to some random website if you ask any questions.

According to some websites I'm an alien, since I have Rh- blood type and a few other characteristics.... could be something in it... there's a belief system for just about everything and going back in human history etc and the development of "modern" man, there are many questions including alien invasion..... bloody Captain Cook bastards..... the RH+s want their lend back...
