Another example would be breast cancer.

Everyone has the breast cancer gene (its a normal gene slowing down cell division), but only some people have the mutation that sows the genes action down

How can you tell the skin and hair type from a skeleton muppet?

Drill into the skull and extract DNA from bone powder, I guess.

So you can get hair type and skin colour from the powder from a 10,000 year old skeleton??? Grin Grin Grin Grin What a load of leftist inspired rubbish. When CNN was mentioned it lost my interest.

You can get an idea of it yes. Thats what genetics is about.

Grin Grin Grin Grin Skin colour is a response to UV. It has nothing to do with genetics.

Partially correct, the mutations in DNA occurred as a result of favouring darker skin in higher UV areas when we lost our body hair.

SO yes its a response to UV, but the genetic determinants are there

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanin#Evolutionary_origins

If it was only to do with UV, people would rangee from Negro to albino in this country year round

So being black is genetic then?

In terms of melanin production, its genetic.

So black people and white people have different genes concerning skin colour?

Different alleles.

Thanks for clearing that up. people have been arguing me for years on that subject.

What do you mean.

so white people have a variant of a common gene between white and black people. So they have different genes?

No its the same gene, just variants of it. IN exactly the same way eye colour or hair colour is different.

but it differs?

It won't be the whole gene thats different, it might just be one base out of 10,000 in the entire code.

Or in some cases its not even the gene thats different.

IN people with blue eyes theres a mutation in a protein ligase gene that shuts off one of the eye colour genes that produces blue eyes.

So you are saying the difference is minimal. Most genetic differences are minimal. One little difference can lead to cancer. There aren't major  differences in genes. Otherwise we'd get blob creatures.

I thought about it and what you are saying is very true. White people have been living in Africa for 300 years and are still white while black people have been living in North America for 300 years and are still black. It must be a strong gene built up over many thousands of years.

Being brown helps you absorb heat and vitamin d. But pale skin is a reaction to less vitamin  so in 50,000 years eskimos will probably turn white due to low vitamin d. It a chemical reaction that isn't controllable.

IN actual fact in regards to Vit D they've found the opposite.

I believe the eskimo haven't been up north  long enough to turn white. It's happened to most other people who live with low uv. Maybe Europe and north America have different levels of uv ?

Perhaps, I believe light skin though is due to mutations in several different genes.

Nothing surprising about the early Brits having black people there. Perhaps Britain needed a team to send to the early Olympics and had to recruit internationally.

Prime Minister for Canyons wrote on Feb 8th, 2018 at 1:21pm:
IN people with blue eyes theres a mutation in a protein ligase gene that shuts off one of the eye colour genes that produces blue eyes.

The blue eye gene has been remarkably successful for a recessive gene, appeared around 10,000 years ago in one individual, I believe.
