This is quite embarrassing for Shitten. He said it's dead, but it's very much alive and on the cusp of being signed even without US involvement - thanks largely to the Australian PM and his Trade Minister.  Grin Grin Grin

Unless we see the details and have the TPP analysed how do you know it will be a good thing....Judging by past experience it most certainly will not be anywhere near as beneficial as the Government claims....I hope the deal is good for Australia but I will not take the Governments word for it....They lost my good faith decades ago???

AC,

LW doesn't have a clue about the topic, he is only fishing for attention by posting a bit of rot and then hoping for a giggle at the responses.

He has been doing this caper for years.

If the TPP is such a good deal, why doesn't the government have the courage to put it to the people for ratification in a plebiscite?

Because, according to you, the government was chosen to make decisions for the people, not have a plebiscite on every issue and so they are doing what they were elected to do. If you don't like it, vote for someone else at the next Federal election. Smiley

Seems sensible ?

In opposition the current government wanted modelling on everything down to the Prime Ministers ham sandwich.

Where was the CBA on Labor's snail-pace NBN?

You know full well that Labor's NBN was fibre to the home - 20 times faster than the Libs product and 100 time better future proofed.

The Drongo Shorten had to make up some cock and bull storey to hide the fact he was caught with his pants down.

The Libs were all for modelling in their opposition days ? They claimed that a failure to have supporting modelling was a sign of incompetent government.

Suppose that with this government that makes it irrelevant, that result is already in.

Exactly - you all wanted one when Abbott was squawking from opposition? Guess that was just the political bias showing.

That would typically be the guaranteed result based on the historical data.

Yes agree, my first comment posted was "Seems sensible". This isn't from any political bias as I would expect both political groups to be ensuring the best outcome and we have so many times been taken to the cleaners with these deals.

This isnt Labor V Liberal - it is Smart V Dumb.

Because, according to you,

Link, or you are making up crap.

The government was trying to have a plebiscite (and eventually settled on a survey) for same-sex marriage. The TPP would have a far larger effect on our sovereignty, so should be put to the people.

Among other things, giving the people a say over free trade agreements would help to keep governments and corporations honest about these. It's not as if the citizens had any observers at the negotiations - just government representatives with more vested interests than a singlet factory. Even the Opposition wasn't allowed to be present. On the TPP, this government has been far from honest and transparent.
