I made the dough in the bread machine, but then I had to refer to an old manual to find out what to do next.
I didn't much like getting the dough out and kneading it. I cut it into three pieces then rolled them out to a square with a full whisky bottle.
Then I rolled them up sort of like rolling a newspaper and put them in the over for 20 minutes. Oh, I painted them with egg & water first.

They turned out beautiful, only they were more like small Vienna loaves than bread sticks. Next time I will cut them into smaller pieces, if there is a next time. It's all a bit fussy. But you get a much better texture than just with the bread machine.
I'm eating one and I'll freeze the other two.

PS I figure it cost me maybe 60 cents for three artisan loaves as against maybe $9 or more. And I had hot bread with lunch, how good is that.
