The Milk Man
Jan 16th, 2018 at 8:54pm

Ours was Mr Moore.  You left your empties out at the front door or steps with the money to pay for the replacements.  Three empties, he knew to replace with three new full ones.  Fresh from the local Milk Factory.  Lovely stuff, every morning.

4.00 am (or whatever time it was) and you'd hear Mr Moore at your front door/steps doing his thing.......every day.  Maybe he got the weekend off and extra bottles were ordered on Friday morning.  You could still get milk from Mr Shorten's Corner Store on weekends anyway.

And of course.....you had the pricks (kids) who stole Mr Moore's 'milk money' before he got there.

And the bloke who delivered the bread in his horse drawn cart up our street was Mr Gore.

Gee I wonder if my stalkers can work out my address when I was a kid!

When I was really young, we had a milkman called Ernie, he had a horse(clydesdale) drawn milk cart. No lie, this was in Perth WA, the west.

We used to get the bread van come around too and mail delivered twice a day.

The Milk Man, our Mr Moore had a Van....the milk in the back, not refrigerated except perhaps by ice.  Dunno.  His daughter Wendy was one of my earliest conquests.

Mr Moore used something like this to bring the bottles from his Van to the steps, and to carry the empties back.
