England's Ben Stokes charged

Link.

Quote:
Ben Stokes charged over Bristol nightclub brawl

England cricketer Ben Stokes has been charged with affray following an incident in the city of Bristol last September, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said.

Stokes, 26, and two other men are due to appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court at a date to be fixed.

The Durham all-rounder has not played for England since the incident outside a nightclub, missing out on the Ashes tour to Australia.

He did play in six domestic matches in New Zealand in December.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has also given Stokes permission to play in the Indian Premier League, which starts in April.

The CPS said Avon and Somerset police had passed on a file of evidence on November 29 in relation to the incident, which left a 27-year-old man with a fractured eye socket, and further material was received in late December.

Would have been piss funny to watch that red head trying to play in 40 degree heat in the Sydney Test. You could call it the "Pink Test" for another reason.

Bit of a sledge where you Aussie....Stokes has shown he cannot handle confrontation without lashing out....His concentration and temperament will be tested in the future and his character will be exposed???

Yes, I was.  Hard to imagine I know.  Had the pleasure of annoying the crap out of some Test players.

Best latent 'sledge' ever was to WA's (Rob?) Langer.  Opened with Graham Wood for WA with Hughes as Captain, Lillie, Marsh et al.

Caught Aussie bowled Jeff Gear.....a ripper.  He was a left hander and belted a leg glance, not wide enough.  Right into my right diving glove.  Circa 1982/3.

Earned me $50.00 way back then as best catch of the day.

Could not resist it.  In their dressing room, I gave him the $50.00 and said, "All I did was catch it, you hit it."

The farqar took the note and sulked.

Cheesy

True story.

We had 'em 3 for SFA (Laird and Langer both caught behind by me in the first couple of overs) until Wood and Hughes belted the crap out of us.  Jeff Gear was an Aussie Under 19 opening bowler.  I am the only 'batsman' ever to be bowled by Kim Hughes.  That's another story in itself.

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

Lillee and Marsh were openly very disrespectful of him.
