Top 100 must read books
Jan 16th, 2018 at 2:04am

Does anyone have a top 100 books list for must read novels? Since Amazon.com.au opened, I have considered buying cheap books with free delivery as a way of spending my free time. I want to read 100 novels over the next 4 years.

An example of men's reading:

That's not a bad list - I've read several of those.

Just a tip, though, if you want books delivered (for free) to your door at a reasonable price, try https://www.bookdepository.com/

I think you'll find them cheaper than Amazon.

Rocky, you can"t beat rhe Sallies. I've bought 'rhe first circle', 'the executioner's song' and 'a thousand years of solitude' from there among many more. Two bucks each.

I buy new books on kindle. For hard copy, I have an awesome street library.

I don't understand what you mean. Where did you get them for $2 each?

I think he means the Salvos - The Salvation Army.

I've never heard them called the Sallies before, though.

fishpond.com.au is the main book depository I use for buying books. But since they reopened a bookstore in the main shopping centre, I try to buy from them (QBD) first.

I use fishpond too, but bookdepository.com is usually cheaper.

Don't bother with 'top 100 lists'.

Get a good history of literature book, read it and see what you like. You have to make your own must read lists, not follow someone else's.

I bought the Wonderful Wizard of Oz today. It was written by a Frank Baum. Incidentally, that was a book featured in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. "Baum" happened to be a pseudonym of Sarah and John Connor, as they hid their identities with the surname "Baum".

I would go for the reading list of the most recommended. The men's reading list I posted above is a good list of books that I want to use for my 100 must-read books. I can go to the library every couple weeks and get out a book on the list to read.

Some reading lists include the bible or the koran. I'm actually considering an interest in Norse Mythology.

Have a look at Saga Land by Richard Fidler, Kári Gíslason

The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun or Beren and Luthien or Finn and Hengest by one J. R. R. Tolkien.

As they should.

Both good reads.

I've read the Bible twice (hello Honky, if you're still reading this forum).

I'm pretty sure the Bible was in the list you posted.

The Koran is unreadable.
I have tried. It has no shape.

Not as good as the Bible, but still worth a read.
