You support the following values:

1) Separation of Church and State;

2) Freedom of Speech (the narrowest interpretation of it);

3) Equality for Women;

4) Equality for minorities;

5) Freedom to practise your religion without fear of violence;

Australia culture is your core culture, with your ethnic background taking a peripheral role.

You are an Australian citizen.

Your loyalty is to the Queen, Union Jack and country.

You believe that the Indigenous peoples of the Australian continent have been wronged by BOTH Australian government and the British;

You support the institutions of parliamentary democracy; common law; and separation of powers.
------
If you do not support any one of the above, you are not Australian.

That rules out: Aussie, Grappler, Setanta, Brian Ross, philperth et al. Sorry guys, you're not Australian.

Don't forget the true Aussie culture of being for freedom FROM religion. Since religion is dying out in Australia, it seems appropriate that we go about our lives without religion interfering in how we live.

I happen to be a Republican. The only thing that would stop me from voting Australia to becoming a republic is the cost. Otherwise, we can do away with the royal family having one of them meddling in our affairs.

You are Australian if time spent drinking beer

You are another of the many who do not understand what the present Australian flag means. The Hawaiian flag has a Union flag in the upper hoist too. Such symbolism does not imply loyalty to Britain or the monarch. The Union flag in ours, is inherited from Imperial times. It no longer fulfills that purpose. Since Australians ceased to be British subjects, (a fact you seem to ignore) the Union flag is purely a matter of tradition. The bottom line is that legislation and foreign policy stop here. Now don't start nit-picking about the Anzus treaty, because you'll just dig yourself in deeper.

I wish I could tell you stories, but I would not have the legal evidence to back up my argument. If an English person came to Australia and caused a major crime and then fled home, they can effectively use the power of the head of state to claim impunity, due to their English nationality. It is not like the successor to the Queen would not tell the Australian courts to "get stuffed" in their own way, seeing as the English are quite jingoistic.

Agree with issuevoter...

The Australian Flag is not the Union Flag or Jack as you called it.  Like most heraldic symbols it tells a story.  At the core of modern Australia is Britain.  There is no denying that and being considered sane.  But we are also no longer considered British citizens.

2.  Australians should understand our history and recognise the flag as symbolic of them and their country.  (Certainly those who deface and burn the flag know intimately the message they are sending).

That may be your definition of an Australian but I'm sure if you asked 100 different people what their definition is you would get 100 different answers.

As far as I'm concerned as long as you are a permanent resident, you are an Australian. I don't go in for all these right wing nationalist restrictions on thoughts and opinions.

How about deaf people?
How about blind people?
What would be your definition of "Australian English"?
If I speak American English would I be banned from being a citizen?

You really are going to have to be more careful with your definition of the restrictions you want to make

Yes.

Flick Australia.

I am,  VICTORIAN

Jealous much?

I know it was just an accident of birth that my ancestors chose victoria 160 years ago, but I am bloody grateful they were such clever buggers.

Multi-ethnic populations are something I have no problem with at all, but the ones who put their historical culture ABOVE the australian culture, should get the arse. F off back there if ya love it so bloody much you maintain it's beliefs and cultural practices instead of adopting the australian culture.

Not for patriotic reasons, just because we need to all be working together, to create the best future for our kids, and we need to share a culture to be able to do that.

This 'logiic' slays me. Australia has citizens to the manor born who are unproductive or unemployable for a variety of reasons. Thus we should have no qualms importing unproductive/unemployable people from other countries. Did I miss something?

Trouble is you globalist progressive experts are not experts at all

If you claim to know all about multiculturalism, how come you don't know that there is an "Australian" culture?

The Australian culture is clearly demonstrated in every episode of the ABC program "Back Roads"

But would you watch Back Roads? you probably would watch it, if only to work out how the Aussie culture could be destroyed in Rural Australia, to suit your "know it all" agenda

The Aussie culture has endured for a long time and ensured stability and peace in the bush and the last thing we need is the poisoning of our culture with ethnic violence, petulance or "superior" cultism

The big cities have been ruined by ethnic enclaves, we all know that, but we don't want that ridiculous way of life in Rural Australia, we're getting along quite well the way things are thank very much

The Australian culture in Rural Australia is a model to the rest of the world. It's peaceful, law abiding and co-operative within it's communities

It's not broke, therefore it doesn't need fixing

Australia is a multicultural country, so what kind of hyphenated Australian are you?

Actually it is NOT.
It is Multiracial.
Multicilturalism is a Settlement Policy.
You need to stop listening to cultural cringists like Bwian.

Good thing you laughed when you said that, Pilgrim Augie ....  I love Blacks - they make great bullbar ornaments... never supported anything other than separation of church and state, I openly state repeatedly that I prefer people to say what they want to say so it can be subjected to public scrutiny, women have every legal right that men have and suffer nowhere in fact, wops wogs spicks gypos ethnos chinks mussos et al all enjoy the same rights as everyone else, and nowhere do I ever advocate violence or restriction on religious worship.  As for Mad Musso coffee shop jihadists etc, I recommend that all such be dumped out of a black chopper at dark midnight still in their preferred homeland and culture and left to fend for themselves - a very tolerant attitude given their claims to want to behead Australians....

Everything else you list I pass 100% except for a rather remote attachment to Her Maj as merely a figurehead, and not to the Union Jack in any way.

I'm certain Setanta is the same, and the rest as well that you named.

How many times can one person be wrong in one post, you whipper-snapper....???   Roll Eyes

How do you recognise any culture? By signs of the most commonplace cliches and stereotypes?

I meant to say that since the post-WWII mass-immigration of over 200 different ethnicities and nationalities it has become necessary to specify what brand of Australian people are.

An obesity survey held in a Pacific Islander suburb of Sydney is going to produce a very different set of statistics than if a Chinese suburb has the same survey applied.

The term 'Australian' has very little meaning nowadays as to who is being identified and spoken about.

When school is let out at the end of the day in parts of Sydney the whole street becomes crowded with little girls wearing hijabs and talking Arabic to their mothers.

The quintessential 'Australian' of Chips Rafferty fame is a rapidly diminishing icon to Australia's pre-war demographic.

'Mohammed' is now a very common name in the Maternity Wards.

Ajax is a proud 'Greek-Australian'. He doesn't identify as 'an Australian' per se except when filling in forms.

Their logic is: "The ends justifies the means" - Alinski

If globalist progressive radicals want multiculturalism, Alinski suggests they say things like: "What Australian culture?", to demean Aussies who prefer their Australian culture to be the main one and that everybody should learn it

Alinski's Rules for Radicals

(10) “do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral arguments.”

(11) Whatever your mission “goals must be phrased in terms like Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, or Of the Common Welfare or Pursuit of Happiness or Bread and Peace”.

Ethical considerations should not be allowed to interfere with success.

You are wrong about the flag Auggie...  many have explained why to you already so no need to keep going there.

As for phils contribution, well the less said the better.
bwian of course is trying to be tricky but is his normal disingenuous self.
The PM chooses the GG the Queen simply rubber stamps the Appointment.  Like I said he is being disingenuous.  He just loves creating strawmen.

Did you look at Convict Creations yet.  You might find that site very interesting.

The Union flag(a Jack is naval) is in the top left corner of our flag. The Southern cross constellation occupies from mid to left side & a 7 pointed star representing the number of states & territories sit below the Union flag.

The Stolen Generation is a furphy. Any atrocities carried out that fit the bill as being perpetrated by the British occurred before 1901.

That the point we are the nation with developed national and cultural identity because we got rid of British colonial rule what you haven't done yet and that's why you are still a negligible  British colony without own head of state and even own flag with "Small dog syndrome" or "Small puppet syndrome"? The great intellectual who was expelled from Australia and lived in US for more than 50 years wrote about his "country" of birth: "Australia is spaciously huge, culturally tiny and politically insignificant".

You still celebrate British Queen and British flag, British princesses and so on and as long as you do that you will remain a colony without national and cultural identity.
By the way in US we are all Americans and don't have closet poms as British nationalists.

You don't have a culture because you expelled and hated the best Art critic ever Robert Hughes, then you expelled and hated painter like Geffry Smart and son and so on.

The Palace, on several occasions has questioned the Government's choice of GG.  Sir Isaac Isaacs when nominated the Palace asked if he was the best choice for the position.   He was Jewish and Australian.   Obviously, his religion was seen as an impediment.   Sir John Kerr acted illegally and when the PM attempted to have him dismissed, he had to appeal to the Palace to have it done.    Roll Eyes

Kerr consulted others than the PM about what his options were.  Kerr did dismiss Whitlam but the process at which that was arrived as a decision was illegal.    Roll Eyes

Was it Kerr or his boss Queen. If Kerr did it without her approval why she didn't dismiss him?
But more or less the point is why she (or he) did it.

And what is the "Australian Culture"? (if it even exists)
I don't binge drink on weekends or obsess over cars.
Does that mean that I'm not adopting Australian Culture?

You cannot seriously believe what you are suggesting. By this measure only robotic clones have a culture because they behave identically.

How do you recognise any culture? By signs of the most commonplace cliches and stereotypes?

I'm not the one who brought up Australian culture, mozzaok did.
I don't think anyone has actually described what Australian Culture is.
It just seems to be a useful euphemism to describe what tinted people arn't

Does any country have its own culture? Of course.
Does France have a culture? China? Vietnam, Indonesia, Argentina, Brazil, etc? Why question only Australia's culture? I don't see the logic.

There is a logic. Because you don't know what a culture is.
You don't have a culture because you expelled and hated the best Art critic ever Robert Hughes, then you expelled and hated painter like Geffry Smart and son and so on.
You don't need a culture you have a Bear and Barbie that's enough to be cultured for you.

And what culture do you Septics have?

You're a nation of immigrants as well. Roll Eyes

That's what you think.

And as usual you display the typical "so full of yourself" septic personna.

You have nothing to be proud of as to breaking free of British Colonial rule. You live in a dog eat dog cultutre & where your politicians either get assassinated by or are bought by the ruling elite who really run your country.

Your Presidents are just puppets.

Oh did I mention your tendency to be hypocrites? Roll Eyes

Anglosaxons are not privileged in America.

BS .. your Affirmative Action/Black Lives Matter/ African American Associations, Rev Al Sharpton, Michelle Obama & even Oprah Winfrey & certain other black celebrities all bang on about "white"Anglo-saxon privilege in the US.

Australian Egalitarianism....

Australians have a well developed sense of what is known as the Tall Poppy Syndrome.  Unlike other cultures like that of the US where celebrity is worshipped, Australians favour the more humble, the more even handed, level headed.  The Quiet Achievers. Stick your head above the parapet and blow your own horn, big noting yourself etc is frowned upon.  Australians will quickly bring you back down to Earth. The origins of this behaviour can be traced back to the convict past where when creating the new society the British class system and airs and graces were frowned upon and eschewed.
Australians still recognise achievement and success, just don't try to lord it over others.

Other references...  Tall-poppy Syndrome

Quote:
Exactly what the tall-poppy syndrome refers to has been a subject of debate. What can’t be debated is that anyone who seems to demonstrate that they are superior to others will probably be attacked. For example, someone who drives a Mercedes to show their wealth will probably find that their car frequently gets scratched. Someone who boasts about their achievements will frequently find themselves subjected to cynical or sarcastic remarks. Any politician that tries to portray themselves as more moral than others will find people on the lookout for skeletons in their closet.

Quote:
The tall poppy syndrome (TPS) is a pejorative term primarily used in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other Anglosphere nations to describe a social phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers.

Australia and New Zealand’s usage of the term has evolved and is not uniformly negative. In Australia, a long history of “underdog” culture and profound respect for humility in contrast to that of Australia’s English feudal heritage results in a different understanding of “Tall poppy syndrome”.

The official historical table for Commonwealth debt published by Treasury shows that the Australian government had zero net debt throughout the time Whitlam was in office.

"Whitlam and his government changed the way we think about ourselves. The curse of sleepy mediocrity and colonial dependency, so mercilessly flayed in 1964 by Donald Horne in The Lucky Country, was cast aside. Outdated social attitudes were brutally confronted. The tribal conservatism of the ’50s that had been slowly eroded by prolonged prosperity was unable to withstand this concerted assault. The Australia in which Indigenous people were seen as subhuman, women were second-class citizens, censorship of artistic work was commonplace, nature was solely for exploitation, electoral laws were rigged and community leaders were rewarded with knighthoods was relegated to the history books.

Whitlam has described his government’s transformation of education as its “most enduring single achievement”. As one of the first group of students who benefited from the abolition of university fees and the creation of the Tertiary Education Assistance Scheme, I am tempted to agree. Australia’s education system, long geared to a world of physical labour and limited learning, had not kept pace with changes in the production process and society.

The official historical table for Commonwealth debt published by Treasury shows that the Australian government had zero net debt throughout the time Whitlam was in office.

Maybe not illegal strictly speaking - but certainly stupid and undemocratic.

Australian culture is a wonderful thing, and immigrants and their offspring do not need to abandon their historical culture, unless it is in clear contradiction to OUR culture, it just must not be put above our culture, so that these migrants believe they are our superiors, on a cultural level.

Can anyone here honestly tell me they have not come across those types, who hark to the superiority of greek culture, because that is where democracy and the great philosophers sprang from, or macedonians thinking that like alexander, and ali, they are the greatest, or italians that identify with the world dominating roman empire, or iranians with the persian etc. etc.

That is what we do not need, having new australians condescending to "convicts".

Aussie culture is famous for it's self deprecating humour, for it's generousity of spirit, and welcoming egalitarianism. We stick up for the underdog, thumb our noses at pretentiosness and self importance, and deride the overly pious and patriotic, with equal disdain. The preparedness to help out a friend, neighbour, or stranger in need, goes back to our pioneering heritage, where we also developed the characteristic of stoically taking hardships in our stride, but continuing to strive to build a better future for all.

When people claim to not know of any australian culture, I have to wonder who are these people, and what the hell is wrong with them that they fail to recognise what is all around them.
I am 5th generation australian, and grateful to have such a great home country, and I would like to think that pathetic whining self pitying zealots from other cultures do not lessen what so many have built up over the last 200 years or so.

Again, this focus on the peace-loving majority. The disorganised majority doesn't matter. What matters is the organized minority, which needs JUST ENOUGH SUPPORT to be a force of reckoning. Something is driving this movement; and it's an ideology.

Here is a little clip of some local Mebourne boys, born and raised here, good aussies one and all, according to you, and your fellow apologists.

The clip starts out with them screaming at people filing in to listen to speakers Richard Dawkins and other atheists, and humanists, at the 2012 global atheists convention.
They scream, "BURN IN HELL", luckily because they are a poor repressed minority, that must not be considered HATE speech.
They also hold up signs, declaring the recently deceased, much loved writer Christopher Hitchens, BURNS IN HELLFIRE. Lovely folks, one and all. Of course I expect you will race to point out these are not "real" muslims, nor do they reflect "real" Islamic beliefs.
And two positives cannot produce a negative.
Yeah Right.

If this clip is long enough, you may see some christians spewing hate as well, more lovely folk.

Oh yeah that’s a good summation I like it very much... Cool

I’m from a Greek heritage I was born here and in my youth I rejected it now in my older years I have come to love and embrace my Greek heritage but even though I have Greek blood running through my veins, my heart and my mind are Australian.

I love the Australian sense of humour, the larrikinism, the slang, the ability to laugh at almost anything and to not take life too seriously, the bonds of mateship between friends and helping each other out.

I’ve never been to Greece but I have met many relos who have come over here for a holiday and while they are good people and I like them deep down they do feel a bit alien to what I’m used to.

One day I will go for a holiday to see the place my oldies came from but Australia will always be home.

Agree they don't need to abandon anything because there is no culture.
Everything what's left is a poor imitation of British prehistoric convict colonial "culture".

4. A Sporting Culture.

Australians have developed a sporting sub/culture, whether they be spectators or participants, Australians have a love of Sports.  Perhaps more than any other nation.

http://www.convictcreations.com/citizenship/sport.html

Australians have excelled at and have had many world champions in many world sports as well.
Tennis, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Squash, Swimming, Hockey, Golf, Boxing, Track and Field, etc, etc, etc...

Quote:
Australians take great pride in the sporting feats of our compatriots — indeed a large degree of our national identity has been forged on the playing field.
From Bradman to Gould, Freeman to Cash, the achievements of our legendary sports stars fill us with a collective national pride. In the wake of national celebrations for Australia Day, Wide World of Sports hones in on 11 of our greatest sporting heroes.

Don Bradman
Any discussion of Australian sporting champions must begin with cricket legend Sir Donald "The Don" Bradman. Even with almost 70 years having passed since his retirement and 15 years since his death, Bradman's many batting records remain mostly unchallenged.

Bradman still holds the highest Test batting average of any batsmen at 99.94, and his insatiable run-making prowess is unlikely ever to be bettered.

Shane Gould
Australia has also excelled in the Olympic domain, with numerous legendary performers enshrining their names in the history books. Shane Gould wowed a generation as a shy 15-year-old schoolgirl at the 1972 Munich Games, winning three gold medals, a silver and a bronze in various swimming events.

But the pressure of success was too much for her and on her return to Australia, she retired from competitive swimming. The mother of four has since revived her career competing at Masters level, where she’s set an array of records, solidifying her legendary status.

Herb Elliott
Aussies have also excelled in the track and field arena. Herb Elliott was the greatest middle distance runner of his generation, unbeaten over both the mile and the 1500m during his career from 1957 to 1961.

Such was his domination during that period, it was simply assumed he couldn't lose — and in the 1960 Rome Olympics, he only fueled this rumour further by smashing his own world record, winning by 30m.

Betty Cuthbert
Betty Cuthbert became Australia's "Golden Girl" when she blitzed the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, winning a total of three gold medals, before taking home another gold in Tokyo four years later.

Cuthbert was inducted into The Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985 as an Athlete Member and in 1994 was elevated to Legend of Australian Sport. Tragically, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1969, but went on to become a keen advocate for the condition.

Cathy Freeman
In terms of an athlete who truly became a legend in a single moment, you can't go past Cathy Freeman. As Australia held its collective breath, the proud indigenous athlete  clinched gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in stunning fashion during the 400m.

The significance of her achievement cannot be underestimated. Coming in an era where the incumbent government had refused to apologise for past injustices against the Aboriginal people, her win was a unifying experience for the entire nation

Mark Richards
As a coastal nation, it should come as no surprise that Aussies have also excelled in surfing. Rising from the counter-culture milieu of the 1960s and 1970s, Australia's beaches spawned a radical crop of competitive surfers who dominated the fledgling years of professional surfing. And there were none better than Newcastle's Mark Richards.

Winning four world titles and revolutionising the sport with a powerfully fluid style, Richards was everything surfers weren't originally considered to be. A quiet, humble family man, Richards' Australian record of four titles has stood firm for years, with only three-time world champ Mick Fanning coming close.

Tennis legends

The tennis courts of the world have also long been hallowed ground for Australian athletes. Legends include Margaret Court, who won 62 Grand Slam titles between 1969 and 1975; Rod Laver, who took the world by storm throughout the 1960s; and Ken Rosewall, whose 20-year career carved his name forever in the Australian psyche.

Pat Cash
But one of the greatest and most well-loved tennis champs from Oz is Pat Cash – whose victory over Ivan Lendl in the 1987 Wimbledon final cemented his status as eternal sporting legend.

Throughout his career, Cash won six singles titles and 12 doubles titles, before retiring from the game in 1997.

If you scratch the surface of almost any sport, you will find an Australian sporting legend. From sailors John Bertrand and Jessica Watson, to cricketers Shane Warne and Dennis Lillee, to golfers Peter Thompson and Greg Norman, this nation has bred a plethora of legends, all admired and loved for their achievements.

Multi-ethnic populations are something I have no problem with at all, but the ones who put their historical culture ABOVE the australian culture, should get the arse. F off back there if ya love it so bloody much you maintain it's beliefs and cultural practices instead of adopting the australian culture.

And what is the "Australian Culture"? (if it even exists)
I don't binge drink on weekends or obsess over cars.
Does that mean that I'm not adopting Australian Culture?

Unless of course, they are Muslims and then they earn the ire of oh, so many Australians who have never met a Muslim nor understand that Muslims aren't all Terrorists, they are just ordinary people who just happen to worship a different god to the one normally accepted by the majority of Australians.    Roll Eyes

Again, this focus on the peace-loving majority. The disorganised majority doesn't matter. What matters is the organized minority, which needs JUST ENOUGH SUPPORT to be a force of reckoning. Something is driving this movement; and it's an ideology.

So, the "disorganised majority" become the collateral damage, hey, Augie?   Shame, hey, that innocent people are persecuted, that innocent people have their lives damaged/destroyed by you trying to aim so broadly at the minority that you catch the whole population in your sights.    Tsk, tsk, how American of you.    Roll Eyes

Here is a little clip of some local Mebourne boys, born and raised here, good aussies one and all, according to you, and your fellow apologists.

I make it to be about 30 people.  Hardly representative of the overwhelming majority of Muslims, now are they?

If this clip is long enough, you may see some christians spewing hate as well, more lovely folk.

So?  Yet you signal out the Muslims for most of your criticism.  Interesting that.   Both groups are exercising their Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Assembly.   Both are acting democratically and protesting, peacefully.   I see nothing wrong with either group doing that.

I don't agree with their position, as is my right.   I'd enjoy more than likely arguing with people from either group.  However, they have a right to their views and I would never tell them they were wrong for doing so as you appear to be doing.

Neither group was violent, neither group threatened anybody physically.   So, what is your problem with either group expressing their opinion?

You may disagree with what they say but you have no right to silence either group.  No right at all.    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Seriously Brian, I reckon I have scraped stuff off the soles of my shoes that is smarter than you.
I have trouble reconciling that people of such little intellectual capacity exist.

Muslims do have the right to free speech.
They do differ from other groups in that they threaten to kill people who disagree with them.
That is bad enough, but even worse is that these are not empty threats, because they actually do go on to murder those who diasgree with them.

That goes beyond free speech, I would think even someone with a dead gerbil to keep his wheel spinning could pick up on that much.

To pretend that a screaming muslim does not carry a threat of violence, even if he does not say it because he is being filmed, does not mean it is not there.

Do you think if I put my name and address with every statement against Islam I could rest easily in the fact that they will allow me my free speech in a manner free from threat of or actual violence.

Yeah, like fu33 you do.

Shame who your denial actually alienates Moderates who actually hold liberal values. You're enabling the suppression of the true Reformers in Islam by being in denial. Stand up for the rights of your fellow Reformer Muslim and support core liberal values. There is no compromise on these liberal values, Brian Ross. I am not in denial in the slightest, Augie.  I welcome reformers from within Islam.  Indeed, I have often argued that reform must come from Muslims themselves.  All the criticism from Islamophobes does is make them close ranks and withdraw into a bunker mentality.   The same for any group.    Time to stop thinking that you're helping the reformers, you're actually hindering them.  Making their lives harder because the extremists claim that the reformers are betrayers/apostates because they are siding with the secular West.   I've seen the same effect with Catholics, Protestants, Jews, you name it.   It does not work.    Roll Eyes

That's not the case in Young NSW Ajax

A good test for muslims assimilating is in towns like Young which have small populations. Young has 7000 residents. In small towns, any behavour inconsistent with the locals culture and norms, sticks out like a sore thumb. The muslims in Young don't seem to be interested in the Aussie population (I'll be traveling to that area this year, so I'll find out the truth when I stop at Young and talk to residents)

Apart from SBS, all reports are that the muslims are keeping to themselves and already one has been charged with supplying info to ISIS

I hope there's no more than one definition of "assimilation"

assimilate |əˈsiməˌlāt|
verb [ trans. ]
1 take in (information, ideas, or culture) and understand fully
• (usu. be assimilated) absorb and integrate into a wider society or culture

Neither do any other of you mealy mouthed apologists.

Oh, dearie, dearie, me.  Another one who when he can't win automatically resorts to ad hominem argument.  Tsk, tsk, I have no idea why you bother, I really don't.   You add nothing to the debate except insults and hatred.

The Muslims in your video did not threaten to kill anybody, as far as I can tell.   They did not threaten to hurt anybody.   They were just making a vocal and visual protest against the speakers.  Nothing more.  Once more we see the Islamophobic mindset.   Most Muslims are law-abiding, well assimilated, peaceful people.   I am unsure why you attempt to characterise them as being anything else.   Could it be your Islamophobia speaking?    Roll Eyes

You ought to know bwyannnnnn,

You are the one who always falls straight back to the exact same statement of stupidity every single time you can't win.

You support the following values:

1) Separation of Church and State;

2) Freedom of Speech (the narrowest interpretation of it);

3) Equality for Women;

4) Equality for minorities;

5) Freedom to practise your religion without fear of violence;

Australia culture is your core culture, with your ethnic background taking a peripheral role.

You are an Australian citizen.

Your loyalty is to the Queen, Union Jack and country.

You believe that the Indigenous peoples of the Australian continent have been wronged by BOTH Australian government and the British;

You support the institutions of parliamentary democracy; common law; and separation of powers.

If you do not support any one of the above, you are not Australian.

That rules out: Aussie, Grappler, Setanta, Brian Ross, philperth et al. Sorry guys, you're not Australian.

Well I can only speak for myself.

I am Australian because I was born n bred here.
I married and had all my children here.
I'm raising my children here.
I buried my hard working migrant parents, aunts and uncles here.
All my property is situated here. Including my grave site.
I absolutely love and adore my beautiful native country of Australia.
I tear up when I see the Australian flag raised in victory during Olympic Game races.
I find I cry when I play And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda on the piano because the lyrics reflect our young boys fighting and dying under dreadful conditions.
I look at the photos, medals and soldier's uniform of my oldest son's grandfather who fought bravely for Australia in WW2 (he was a 15 yr old kid who lied about his age so he could be with his 2 brothers).  And I look at my eldest son who looks just like him.....and I wish that these 2 fine men could have met each other. Unfortunately,  war injuries lead many soldiers to an early grave.
I do believe with all my heart and soul that Australia is the best country in the world.

Ultimately....I am Australian because ....I bloody well want to be!

I reckon things have changed since then.

There's a lot of money being made quietly on the side by those inside certain footy circles.

I don't even like AFL, and I certainly don't watch it, but even I know what a white maggot is.

"white maggot:
From the uniform of white shirt and shorts worn by the Victorian Football League (which became the Australian Football League) field umpires. The umpires' uniforms changed to day-glow orange in 2004."

I'm sorry you are an idiot and in denial phil.  But AFL is not a National sport in fact until most recently it was a Victorian Sport.
like I told you you need to stop hanging with lowlifes...  I have never associated with racists or scum that would use such a description for a game official.  I think you will find
1. Most people don't.
2. Most people realise sport is sport not life and death and there is no need to wallow in the gutter.

Unless of course, they are Muslims and then they earn the ire of oh, so many Australians who have never met a Muslim nor understand that Muslims aren't all Terrorists, they are just ordinary people who just happen to worship a different god to the one normally accepted by the majority of Australians.    Roll Eyes

You certainly are selective aren't you Bwian?

We've had Muslims in Australia since the pioneering days ... Afghans. They were not of the same mindset as many many of those who came in the late 70's & 1980's & the current crops of boaties & Africans. They even integrated/intermarried with Indigenous & settler Australians. They survived here for 150 years without Halal Certified foods & products.

The recent Muslims do not integrate, they don't want to, they don't like us, they want their ideals & Sharia catered to,
in fact they are not compatible with western values ... except they like our money for nothing.

[quote]

Try Pat Rafter before Pat Cash.
