DocSmith tries to deny it all as Lefties tend to do.

And LW changes feet again.

The Lefties are kind of sensitive about Labor's abortive Socialist Spying Network, their too expensive impractical NeverBuiltNetwork.

And DocSmith gets a giggle out of the Juliar Gillard cartoons

And the Socialist Sheeple let the NeverBuiltNetwork disaster thru

...

And remember when Conroy discovered asbestos in the pits ?

It would now be the Coalition sub standard spying network....If it is never ever built then I suppose we should blame Turnbull who took over and stuffed it up???

Huh Huh Huh

That's what happens when voters let an incompetent Labor Minister come up with an idea on the back of a napkin and the fool implements it without industry consultation and no CBA. Labor has really screwed this up from the outset. This government is merely ttying to make the most of appalling decision making by Conroy.

Even worse is selling off the publicly owned Telco so you can make sure fat cat public servants can have a good retirement benefit instead of keeping it in public hands and upgrading it to optic fiber which we probably all would have had by now if Howard hadn't sold it to greedy mums and dads investors Sad

That's the day I dread when my already substandard ADSL 2+ connection is replaced with an even more substandard NBN connection Sad

I know someone with NBN who is lucky to get 1.5mbps on a good day. And even with new copper wires and modem replaced hasn't made one bit of difference. Go copper broadband !!

Sounds like their priorities are "different" to say the least.

Malcolm chose to change to fttn and hfc - both are not fit for purpose, do not pay for themselves (the roi on both is less than 3%) and the opex is much double when compared with fttp.

Not only will the mtm never pay for itself, it has added 20+ billion and 10+ years onto the final rollout.

FTTC is a stop gap.

This deserves a royal commission - by the time Australian has rolled out fttp we will have spent 130 billion+ - we will have rolled out fttn, fttc, fttdp and finally fttp - what's the point?

People have also reported they cannot get above 25mbs and in some cases receive slower speeds on fttn.

Not to mention the 250,000 service class 0 premises that can now not even order a service thanks the fttn/hfc.

We also won't think about the 12 month delay on hfc - thanks to both networks never being designed for more than 30% subscriber rates.

All of the LNP supporters blaming anyone but the LNP and Malcolm for this mess are deluded at best!

No ones buying what Mal.com is selling - he stuffed it and will be made to pay.

We are now behind Kazakhstan!!!

Another thing - fttn and hfc have double the opex and will never pay themselves back.

Whereas fttp pays itself back after 7 years thanks to increased revenue and decreased opex.

And don't forget for a moment it was all Labor's idea and that's why it is cursed.

And if you want fiber optic cable so much then pay for it yourself.

https://www.chorus.co.nz/help-and-support/broadband-explained/what-can-affect-my...

Distance
If you’re on the copper network, the further away you are from the cabinet or exchange, the slower your broadband speed. We can deliver VDSL services over the copper network within approximately 800m of the cabinet; ADSL 2+ within two kilometres of the cabinet and ADSL within six kilometres of the cabinet;

Fibre broadband is not affected by distance.

Copper quality
The quality of the copper line delivering your broadband can affect speed. Your broadband provider will be able to investigate and confirm the quality of your line using diagnostic tools.

Technology
GPON technology uses a light signal to transmit data over a fibre optic cable to and from your house. It provides ultra-fast and ultra-consistent speeds because light signals are not impacted by distance or interference.

ADSL and VDSL technology use an electrical signal to transmit data over a copper cable to and from your home.  The speed is impacted by both distance and interference. VDSL is a newer technology and provides much faster speeds than ADSL.

This pretty much sums up why mal.com is such a bad idea!

For years IT Specialists like myself have argued the case for and against a rolled gold NBN...  yet it seems no one really listens.

The people however are making their own decisions...
