A quick ocean swim on a hot day

The government for south east Queensland has decided that only southern beaches will be protected from man eating predators. And that a fatuous ad campaign will be used in the north.

Instead of being protected we will be required to be "Croc Wise" as in do not go in an water for any reason, your safety is your problem.

This is not the first time crocs have threatened large populations of North Queenslanders and thanks to a sh1tty self serving government it won't be the last.

RANGERS are reminding Far North Queenslanders to keep away from the water’s edge after a fisherman’s pet dog was taken by a crocodile at Wonga Beach.

The black and white kelpie named Freckles was attacked and killed by the croc — reported to be about 3m long — while its owner was cast-netting at the beach, just south of the Daintree River, about 6.30am yesterday.

A Department of Environment and Science spokeswoman said that wildlife officers inspected the area, but did not spot the animal.

Recent crocodile warning signs were placed at the beach.

The DES spokeswoman said that the attack was a reminder to the public to keep dogs on a lead and to keep away from the water’s edge in northern Queensland.

THE sighting of a crocodile in Townsville today has sparked a warning at the city’s premiere tourist hotspot.

The animal was filmed by a morning walker about 10am swimming off Kissing Point and Jezzine Barracks towards The Strand.

Lifeguard and wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection have been alerted.

Wildlife officers were this morning on The Strand and about Ross Creek looking for the animal to see what action, if any, would be taken.

Cordelia Hough spotted the crocodile swimming from Pallarenda to The Strand.

She said she contacted authorities at The Strand to warn swimmers.

Ms Hough warned people with dogs to be wary of walking close to the beach.

Pity it only applies to the north as their sole method of protection and not the swimmers of the south, well protected by drum line, shark nets and rogue shark hunting parties.

But we appreciate your hypocrisy.
