My old ASUS gave a 'HDD' sort of  click click clicking while I was trying to start it.

Forced it shutdown, and it restarted ok.

Time for a new SSD I think.
Any suggestions?

it's prob about 4+ years old

As in the other thread just buy a new laptop.

Laptops are pretty much worth nothing after 5 years, not worth upgrading and if its used for work its a tax write off.

I buy my stuff from Graysonline at big discounts , the laptop I am using now I got for $650 .... its over 2 years old and back then it retailed at around $1900 ...... I would be lucky to get $300 for it on the second hand market now. Mobile phones are even worse !

Got my laptop back.
Needs all sorts of software put back onto it.

Bit of a drama.

Suggest you convert over to cloud computing.

Any SSD you like but more important put a new computer around it. Still prefer to use a real disk for storage.

SSD for boot, anything worth storing across 2+ drives.

Good idea on a PC but on a laptop makes it a heavy unit !

Why not just OS SSD and storage on the cloud ?
Makes the laptop potentially under 1 KG
I use all three to be honest with data trust nothing !
