Windoze? Unrealiable, piece of crap. Linux is much better as an OS. Much more reliable, much more secure.
I have been listening to this argument for 20 years. I totally agreed in the past but is this true now. I am not sure but not technically qualified to dispute.
One thing is for sure, Unix did not take off as we all thought it would. It's space is not what corporates use. Hosting web sites and specialist applications what it does well. Even in VM environments often you have windows on the bottom layer with unix running in a VM.
As to security, if you are up to date, rarely do I hear of security breaches and the internal security is very strong these days.
Also Windows spends a lot of time on it's internal stuff, unix flies. So if you want something to really run fast and it is a maths problem, unix I would go for.
But today, if I was to build a commercial application, I would go Windows. Everyone has it, it can now scale. SQL is super fast and scalable and comparable to Oracle. All the office stuff works well. The .NET framework is very good and powerful. The IDE (development tools) is just great.
So I think it is a religious topic, like Ford vs Holden. Horses for courses.
