As for bellicose statements from minor military personnel, the only reason we don't hear more is because we don't read Russian or Chinese media.

You may think its interesting, but it has nothing to do with Australia being British colony. If you don't like the fact that Australia, prior to 1901, was a group of British colonies, fine. But just go ahead a say it. In the mean time, you need to realise decisions about Australian troop deployments have nothing to do with London.

Commander-in-chief of Australian army (Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force etc) is The British Monarch.
It says everything isn't it.
