My prediction is that nothing substantial will get done about climate change until it is too late because there are too many that are in denial and believe that shareholders greed and chasing worthless printed money is more important

That would pre-suppose that man controls the climate. Wink

It's ossification of thought. Either that, or these people have vested interests in the fossil fuel industry that they refuse to disclose.

The two biggest issues in the world today are the population explosion and the amount of crap being pumped into the sky. You could say over-fishing and sea pollution, and several other issues, but they all boil down to over-population. That problem is centred, and so it is no surprise that China should try to do something about, but you have to remember that its easy for the Chinese to govern by decree.

If a carbon trading scheme is the answer to pollution problems, I have yet to be convinced. And I am always suspicious of Leftist solutions that fall back on more regulation and more tax. You'd be forgiven for thinking with all that academia, they could come up with something a bit more imaginative.

So one corporation. Do you think a new one will fill the void or that the others will expand their operations.

"BHP has indicated its desire to remain part of the MCA "given the high level of benefit BHP derives from membership", but the company has said it will request the MCA refrain from policy activity and advocacy in these areas of difference on climate and energy policy."

Of course the new large shareholders are Greenies. So they control a lot of votes.

So what did you expect they would do?

It's an apt description, especially of your thinking. Your mind is so closed that a stick of gelignite duct-taped to the back of your head wouldn't be enough to blast any new ideas in.

Is that supposed to be a question? You used the wrong punctuation. Roll Eyes

Not if the market for coal is shrinking. Fossil fuels are on the way out, no matter how much Koch brothers propaganda you read.

There is no such thing as proof for people like you. I am quite satisfied with the proof to date. Even if there is a 1% chance of it being wrong unlike you I am not willing to risk the future of the planet by taking a massive gamble and putting all of my money on the wrong horse !!

Thank you Captain pedantic. I've noticed plenty of mistakes from you, but don't criticise. It has been said we are all human. Humans make mistakes. If you think otherwise you must be a borg.

Now seeing as the WMO says climate is an average  of 30 years weather; to control climate man would have to control weather. There hasn't been any sign of that.

Oh if it is only a 1% chance you think we should do something?

So far it has cost billions of dollars and no effect. And you would commit many more billions on a 1% chance rather than mitigation? Idiotic.

So what do you want to reduce? CO2 to cool the earth, per the alarmist mantra? But if you cool the earth the oceans sequester more CO2. That would mean more carbonic acid, the acid the alarmists say is causing ocean acidification. Surely that is not the result you want? Wink

You really need to read up on how the Koch brothers contribute some of the hundreds of millions of dollars a year in dark money to fund the propaganda of the climate denial movement, propaganda that has you totally conned, hook, line and sinker.

perhaps you need to read greenpeace.

"The Koch Brothers have sent at least $100,343,292 directly to 84 groups denying climate change science since 1997."

http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/global-warming/climate-deniers/koch-industries/

Last donation mentioned? 2015

Then they show funding since 1986.

Total:      $3,391,460      $9,817,350      $4,043,240      $35,541

But when you add those totals since 1986 you get 17,287,591.00 in 29 years. That averages out to less than $600k/year. So no where near your $100m/ year.

So how much do Greenpeace spend on Climate Change?
