Yes ... they are computers hooked up to the internet

of course they get viruses

you can buy the same brands of virus protection for your mobile as you can a home PC

in fact when you buy new phones these days they usually come with a virus protection for 6 to 12 months.

If it's hooked up to the internet you can get virus protection.

But if in 5 years you haven't had a virus in that time then you mustn't use it for the internet much if at all.

It's technically possible, but highly unlikely for an iPhone to pick up a virus.

Virus protection for an iPhone?

Not too sure about that.

There are security apps for iPhones, available from anti-virus companies, but I'm not aware of any actual anti-virus apps for an iPhone.

Plenty for other smartphones, though.

"All of the major antivirus companies – McAfee, Symantec, Trend Micro – have security apps available for the iPhone, but none of those apps contain antivirus tools. Rather, they focus on helping you find lost devices, backing up your data, securing your web browsing, and protecting your privacy."

Is It Possible to Get an iPhone Virus?

if you come to the notice of 'someone' your entire phone activity is shared by outside people who you don't give permission to.
Telstra just may be the biggest scam of peoples personal information this century, in this country.
with the current climate none of our conversations or web looks is missed.
nothing is secure in their handling of your personal information.
if you don't care, you don't warrant speaking to.

All operating systems have vulnerabilities. For some reason people seem to think apple is safer, it's not. The older the OS the more vulnerabilities it will have unpatched.

Put this into a google search.

I smashed mine, and the only thing about it I miss is the camera.

it'll take 'em some work to retrieve the info now...

Why not keep it for the camera then? I have an Andoid smart phone, it has no credit, it can call 000, take photos, receive texts, tell me the time and hold data I want it too. At the same time as it has no credit, it does not connect to the net. It's not turned on except when I leave the house. What info on it was so secret you needed to smash it?

From what little I know about Telstra, they tend to have some kind of virus protection software constantly updating phones and the network to make sure most phones don't get viruses.

They're a lot safer.

"There have only been a few iPhone viruses ever created and most were created by security professionals for academic and research purposes and haven't been released on the internet."
