In the seats that they contested their primary vote was an average of 20 %

This is what done the Liberals...

Bullshite: one nation saved their bacon!

The greens had f all!

Mostly, that is, because some seats had greens higher than one nation but mostly it was one nation who gave the Libs the seat via preferences!

That's why the decision has taken so long to become official!

And if it wasn't for one nation preferences the Libs would have lost the furniture!

They were well over 30% in a few seats and in fact labour preferences got the Libs over the line in a number of them!

Their influence was massive: the questions,as to why will be thoroughly examined over the next 18 months and you can take that to the bank!

ABC News-

If the basis of the assessment is the party's primary vote, then One Nation was relatively successful, securing the third-highest vote of any party at the election even though it contested only 65 per cent of all seats.
It attained a state wide primary vote of 13.69 per cent across the 61 seats in which it fielded candidates.
In slightly more than half of the seats it contested, One Nation achieved more than 20 per cent of the primary vote
. This is a relatively high vote share for a minor party.
If the basis for assessment is using preference recommendations to influence the election, then One Nation can also claim to have had some impact.

That's pretty good figures for a minor party. They are definitely still a party with impact on the queensland political scene.

Certainly: I over egged the thread title a tad but they were over 30% in some of the seats I seem to remember!

I'm sure labor preferences were needed to give the Libs the seat over one nation in a few instances!

You can't dismiss that type of influence: the greens have always had a stable ten percent but for a Pauline Hanson to fly in and give established career politicians real cause for concern has to get a lot of attention out in the la la land of Foxtels Paul Murray and friends!

Considering their vote count when they only fielded a candidate in 65% of seats is pretty alarming for the political status quo. I like her because she is breathing down their necks and it might inspire them to make sure they conduct good governance.

Well, if its a secret, I don't know. But I think their success may have something to do with people being able support a specific part of their message, while not everything they have to say. I voted Liberal in the Federal election, and Labor in Queensland for similar reasons. Not everyone votes on Party lines.

Well, in the end Pauline Hanson had a right to be buoyant about a positive result it just didn't quite go her way: but, yeh, amazing result by pure numbers voting for her!

She will take a lot of positives from this result even tho she didn't get exactly what she hoped for!

Interesting, yeh!

I vote greens 1 and labor 2 basically in every election state or federal election. The only time I voted Libs 1 was twice after 9-11 just to support a global stability and the man that was in the job at the time so as to lend moral support.

But, do I agree with gay marriage: no sir, I have been more than vocal in my view on that!

I simply cannot believe the figgin labor party and also the friggin football codes that we all pay our money for football entertainment are all supporting it too: as in telling us what the frig family values are!

Anyway, I've made my views in that particular THING very very clear so need to say it again!

One Nation preferenced all sitting members last in Queensland which I think hurt the Coalition more than the ALP who probably wouldn't get One Nation votes anyway....The Coalition should seriously think about doing a preference deal with One Nation in future or risk electoral oblivion???

Huh Huh Huh

Here is an article that explains it if you are interested???

Quote:
"They directed preferences against every sitting LNP member, but for some reason we decided that One Nation should not be preferenced last."

The LNP preferenced One Nation above Labor in over half of the electorates, while Labor put the minor party last."

Do 1/3 of Australians secretly like one nation?

I'm not sure about that but I can tell you one thing for sure; 2 out of 3 Australians love COPPER and they can't get enough of the blessed stuff. You can take that to the bank.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

There's nothing more gullible than voting for the same 2 parties decade after decade . Especially when they put out  bad governments.

1/3 of Australians are genuinely pissed off, who else can we turn to but Pauline. 1/3 don't know what is going on at all so that leaves 1/3 who think they know best.

And unlike the situation with One Nation, whose anti-Liberal preferencing helped deliver Labor as many as ten Queensland seats, Richa is directing preferences to the Liberal’s John Alexander after Fred Nile’s Christian Democratic Party, with Keneally at number five, and the Greens last in a left-leaning field of 12.
