Just watched this 2009 dramatisation of the teenage years of John Lennon. It was shot in Liverpool and London, and is very nicely done. The script is good, the acting excellent, and the production is quite careful. The cheap and dreadful guitars of the period are spot on, and the sound track choices are great, leading off with Australia's own "Wild One" written by Johnny O'Keefe and friends.

There is a lot of smoking in this film as one can imagine, but one scene grabbed me. John's mother was smoking a King Size cigarette. I am pretty sure they had not been introduced in Britain in 1956, but I could be wrong. As a child, I remember grown-ups smoking regular size cork-tipped cigarettes approximately 70mm in length.
