take care Mantra- plenty of hearty food and whatever you do stay warm - keep the fire burning-

Thanks AG. Pity I don't have a fire though. I grew up in one of the coldest parts of Sydney. My mother thought artificial heating was bad for you. When our fingers were blue and we whined about the cold she would tell us to run around and get our blood pumping to keep us warm. It worked.

I used to give my children the same message. I still can't bring myself to buy a heater, but the positive side of it is that I have low electricity bills.

mantra- get a heater to take the deathly chill off the air- for heavens sake- put a bit extra aside for the extra power it might use-  i will never be cold again in winter- nor hot in summer

Haha. It's not the cost AG - it's the way I've always lived. I say every year that I'll get an air conditioner. When it comes to the point that I'm so cold that I can't move - then I'll call up someone and get them to deliver and install one. In the meantime - while I can move around and rug up - it's OK. I still like to try and adapt to the weather.

The days on the east coast are still reasonably warm - around 17 or 18 degrees. If the temperature ever dips to that of Mt. Baw Baw (see Bobby's post) - then I'll get one in a flash.

I have to open a window just to keep cool. No air conditioning in my car at work tonight. But I did go through a canister of water pretty well. Was actually considering having a cool shower tonight, seeing that it is not that cool tonight. Almost like an early Autumn or Spring feel. It is only a week until the longest night of the year.

Dear Mother Nature... if we are going to have days like this, can we at least get some rain?

Going to go flood the front yard with the hose.

It was just as cold here the night before last, but there's been a good rainfall over the last 24 hours. It's quite nice and sunny now and the lowest temperature predicted over the next couple of nights is 7 degrees - which is bearable.

Putting on a soup pot is a good idea. I might do that now.

I am in LA on business. It is quite pleasant here at the moment. 16/23C. That's about what it is at home (Sydney).

Winter in my youth seemed to take forever. Winter in my adulthood seems to stick around for a couple weeks, then it goes back to mild weather.... and then 6 months of hot weather.

It felt hot today and somewhat humid. But we find it cold and dry for at least a month of the year around June.
