Sure, moderate Muslims are often the victim of Islam. That's why Islam inevitably drifts towards extremism. Here's an explanation I put together, using the Sufi's of Indonesia as an example:

I'm putting my money on Islam. It should be pretty obvious why. ISIS had made it clear that they will target the hypocrits before the Jews, which puts people like Sufis at the top of their kill list. Who else would slaughter Sufis?
