Manson should have gone to the chair. He is a perfect example of the reality that the Death Penalty is just a matter of "Taking out the garbage." Human garbage needs to be removed, not hidden away under the sink. Then you get into these pathetic whinges about no one having the right to take a life. It comes from people who would not be able to feed themselves, if they had to make a decision.

In some ways it wasn't his fault.
The fact is he never killed anyone -
he told others to kill those people.

But if someone told you to jump off a cliff then
who's at fault if you did it & died?

He was a danger because people seemed to be easily
brainwashed by him to do satanic deeds.
If he would have been let loose in society would he have brainwashed more people?

Obviously the probation team thought he was still a danger.

The youngest member, a teenage runaway and popular schoolgirl, told investigators Manson had brainwashed her and others with sex, LSD, constant Bible readings, rambling lectures about revolution and the continuous playing of the Beatles' White Album.

Manson and his 'family' of followers lived together at an abandoned and secluded movie set named Spahn Ranch where Manson used its isolation "as one of the many tools in his dangerous arsenal", wrote Curbed in 2014.

"Here he indoctrinated his followers through a series of acid trips, mandatory orgies, and hypnotic, repetitive lectures outlining Helter Skelter, the race war he was determined to start," it said.

Helter Skelter, inspired by his interpretation of the 1968 Beatles song, was Manson's plan to ignite a race war leading to his world domination.

He was arrested in October 1969 on unrelated charges and had been in jail since that time, having been denied bail 12 times.

The story is that Manson was spared the death penalty because Californian law prohibited its use at the time of Manson's trial. Still, no matter the outcome, Manson could have been thrown down a set of stairs and left to get up by himself. I think Tate's murder is enough of a reason to see extrajudicial measures applied against Manson.
