I could only take twenty seconds of that dreadful noise.

Neo-classical shredding is a little passe these days.

Sure, she's done plenty of practice, and she's quite talented.

However, she's just copying the master - Yngwie Malmsteen - and her playing has no real passion.

She certainly deserves praise and encouragement, though.

I just hope she eventually does something a little more original, instead of spending hours a day copying what she sees on YouTube videos (which is what most young players do these days).

All very academic, but she would probably say you were someone who "fears new experiences."

What she's doing isn't a new experience.

That went out of style in the late '80s.

I teach guitar, and my students are encouraged to find their own voice.

Whilst talented, that girl is just aping other guitarists from decades ago.

Yea that's rubish.

I get treated to live performances every day.
My little girl has just learned this.

I don't want that to sound too harsh.

She's obviously talented.

However, it's little more than a party trick.

I almost shuddered when I read the subject heading. I was playing a computer game the other night. I had a playlist of Beethoven blaring away in the background. Even with the sound turned down, I was getting really annoyed after an hour. I do not really consider Beethoven all the good, these days. I played a playlist of Bach the next day and was much happier.

I like listening to classical from around 2pm on a work day, until I knock off.

Mornings are usually 104.3

I see these guitar virtuosos all the time on youtube. I would rather that some tried to put a guitar solo on some complicated piece of music. Not that Beethoven is easy to play. Or try something original.

According to wikipedia, Batio was a lead guitarist in a glam metal band called "Nitro" in the 1980s and early 1990s. He is currently 61 years old -- and I would estimate he played that composition when he was 55 years old. He went solo for a while. But I think he rejoined his old band and has continued his career.
