I don't know of anyone that claimed multiculturalism doesn't bring about it's own set of problems. Throughout the ages there have been adjustment periods for each and every group to come through. That includes those from white western countries.

The benefits however far outweigh the negatives.

They directly targeted conservative Christian and Muslim voters.

So yes, I think your big bad ABC opinion piece is right on the money.

But I'm curious. Why have you posted a source that directly contradicts your point? You've quoted an ABC article that shows migrants were a main factor in the Western Sydney no vote.

The writer of your article claims to be a big bad bogan.
