Nail, for a story to remain in the mainstream for that long , there usually has to be some underlying "truth" to the story.

even a "fairy tale" has to contain a truth or it wont resonate and it will die.

"beauty and the beast" is the truth that most women fantasise about getting a really wild man and taming him (they dont want a wimp).
"sleeping beauty" is the truth that whne you dont expose yourself to the wicked witch and you are naive, then the smallest injury (a pin prick) will lead you to have a meltdown.
"peter pan" is the truth that when we dont want to grow up and take responsibility for ourselves we end up swallowed by the crocodile.

frozen and finding nemo are sort of propaganda and they will be gone in 20 years , but the immortals live on.

why does the story of jesus live on?
because it contains a basic truth that many people just arent up to facing.

you are going to die and you are going to suffer.
you can laugh at it if you want, you can resent it, you can pretend it wont happen to you, but deep down every human knows that there is going to be tragedy in their lives and they are going to die alone.
and only in understanding and accepting and embracing this FACT can you transcend this fact.

so you and gweg can deny it all you like , but tragedy, suffering and pain will find a way to your door and i dont think you will be sniggering quite so much then.
better to practice "bearing your cross" every day.
then you will have built the resilience to cope Wink

why would you have a discussion with people like this aqua......who can only see ugly in everything.. never a positive never a good word always bleak always negative..always lefties...

its a b eautiful painting its a miracle its survived all these centuries...look at the colour look at the expression in those eyes..

what sort of people call this a loser......I find that so sad for them..

not for leonardo....he left a huge legacy I wonder what the lefties of this world will leave behind..... Sad

certainly no hope...no hope at all.

look at it this way issue... someone is saving this painting it needs and will get very special care like being enclosed in a special environment...to stop it fading and cracking.....its beautiful yes a lot of money

I would rather iot spent on this beautiful thing that arms for wars...of which most countries today seem to have endless funds for. Sad

It's absolutely obscene that nearly half a billion dollars was spent on this painting.

Not that it isn't a great piece.

If one person has this sort wealth to spend on art it shows what's wrong in our world today.

the interesting fact about the lefties is that they "think" that we have now developed to the point where we can just do away with religion and we will all behave very nicely to each other.

if we look at hitlers germany, at stalins russia, at the killing fields in cambodia, at imperial japan in china and korea, at the various countries in africa, we see that humans are quite willing to do terrible things to each other.

if gweg or nail think that if they had been in nazi germany, they would have been the ones hiding jews in their basement, i can assure them they are mistaken.
they would have been gaurds at the camp just like everyone else, because thats what humans are like.

2 or 3 great forces (great super heroes) actually changed this.
jesus in europe
buddha in india and then china and japan
confuscius in china.

these guys taught a moral code and a "superior way".
they taught the path of the "superior man".
the renaisance and leonardo and the great steps forward in europe were all based on men and their contributions which were made as deeply, deeply religious men.

the modern aetheist thinks we can just chuck away 2000 years of history and tether our morals "in mid air".
but really, they are still very very deeply tied to christian beliefs.

and things could turn very very very nasty in a heart beat.
the modern aetheist thinks too highly of himself.

he thinks he is the good guy in every story and everyone who is against him is the bad guy.
i think we are all very very bad guys and if you dont apply a "campaign" of discipline to yourself, you will be a force for great harm.

harm is the default.

rembrandts picture of the flowers went for a similar ammount from memory. i like flowers but thats not the point.
you arent supposed to understand art with your logical brain.
art is to culture what a dream is the sleeping mind.
its real but its not in the logical realm. thats why the great artists have art that cant really be explained.

why do 100's of millions of people queue to see the mona lisa? because it speaks at a level beyond this world

The word "of" should be a hint to you:
