Cant say I've had those so don't know about the quality.

You can't beat a fresh tomato taken straight from the plant & eaten.
They taste wonderful compared to the supermarket ones.

Sometimes I eat them like an apple.

But love the juice from them in a tossed salad.

The secret trick is to put some balsamic vinegar on them.

Ok might try that one.

We usually cover them in olive oil and some salt, really brings out the flavour of the tomato.

Wow - that looks yummy.
I'm getting hungry.

In that type of tossed salad when all the fruit goes there is a heap of juices from the tomato and the olive oil.

I love dipping my bread in that stuff and just eating that.

yes, you can't compete with farmers.

Grow your own fruit and veges for your own satisfaction.

Hey Bobby that's the sort of food I love.

A tossed salad and some meat simple and one of the best.

A bit of home made garlic sauce wouldn't go astray either.

You can keep couch and other grasses away from broadleaf plants by spraying with Fusilade.
it kills better than Roundup, only kills grasses not roses or tomato or any other broad leaf plant.
I did some of the early trial work on it before it was registered, when it just had a code number not a brand name.

Sydney now gets really good tomatoes. Even just a few years ago we got green picked gas ripened rubbish from QLD that were either rock hard or totally tasteless.

A very large greenhouse operation opened up just outside of Sydney and now we get tomatoes that are picked RIPE from the vine then in the shop the very next day.

I know the owner of Harris Farm (Luke Harris) and he told me the delivery chain is incredible, picked one day on the plate the next.

The result is about as good as you can grow in yourself, juicy ripe aromatic tomatoes.

In my case I don't want to wreck my lawn.
I have just used a small part of the middle of my lawn
where there is the most sun to grow one plant.

Very funny.

More seriously.
When I was a kid a man had brought back some Italian
oblong tomato seeds as he was in Italy during the war - WW2.
They were still viable seeds & he grew heaps of them
right up to the 1980s - sowing his own seeds from the previous year's crop.

Yeah I've had those, while they are heaps better than those others (don't know the species) on the shelf they are nowhere near as good as home grown.

Home grown characteristics:

1. Have a very thin skin as thick as a human hair.

2. There are no gapping holes in the fruit, its all flesh.

3. The seeds are very small.

4. When you bite into it, it's so juicy you will get something on your clothes.

Here's a few of my cherry tomato plants. I have a garden bed in front of my awning and I've strung lines down from the awning roof. Like how they do in hydroponics.
