remove the lower leaves bobby.. and you should put a cover around it..even plastic will do....we still get frost in ACt in late Nov.. and it was cold tonight....not freezing but still cold.

Hi Cods,
It will be 7 degrees tonight - a bit cold but
I'm sure the plant can handle that.
As long as we get nice hot days it will grow well.
Yes some of those bottom leave should not be touching the soil -
that's a way to introduce disease.

the extremes of heat and cold can be to much for newly transplanted plants Bobs- well some of them

I planted apple cucumbers on the Sunday before the record 36° day in Sydney. When I came home from work, I found them to be nuked. Everything else is fine- they must be millennial cucumbers.

No - I am in an almost endless process of removing flat weeds
& replacing them with potting mix & grass seed.
I got rid of 650 last year and about 350 this year.
I still have another 100 to do.

I use a Fiskars weed puller:

I have clovers,  3 applications of weed and feed has done nothing. Also my grass is buffalo so can't use random seeds. Next winter i think ill roundup the lot and lay new turf.

I've got clover but I let it go because it puts nitrogen into the soil.
Yes - the best way is to kill the lot and start again with freshly tilled soil
& the grass seed that you want.
You can add potting mix into the soil that way too.
Laying new turf is too expensive.

My grass was perfect then 2 years ago I did a small house reno and landscaping and needed a few tons of soil pumped in then new turf. Since then it's been terrible, full of weeds.

cocktail tomatoes - the small sweet ones.
I hope to get 100 tomatoes from it.

Hey Bobby we've had ours in for a few weeks now before that is was inside the house in a little greenhouse by the window.

Two apollos and one big red.

When they ripen I pick them wash them and eat them like an apple that's how sweet they are.

Try doing that with tomatoes from the supermarket...LOL

My tomatoes are grown from last year's fruit seeds and are going well and are totally acclimatised... even got a ring-in- a cherry tomato that would seem to have been dropped by birds from next door... - it's been producing for two weeks or so, and the Romas and the Truss are all green fruiting as we speak....

Plenty of tomatoes by Christmas.... got about a dozen Romas and not sure how many Truss.

Yum!!

Got carrots by the bushel, spinach in need of harvesting, egg plants coming on, strawberries, taters, cucumbers starting, and I need to have a word with my banana trees and the lime about fruit.....

That soil doesn't look like nice fresh potting mix.
Although you have 2 bags right there?

Yes the home grown tomatoes have a taste to die for.
